Pumpino, 17 Jul 2023Yeah, a SD chip from TSMC and a Sony sensor would be great.Tensynos costs 1/4 of snapdragon.
Now multiply this for few million units.
Google is saving huge money doing this.

rosesarerosie, 17 Jul 2023Great, finally they will catch up to the 8 gen 1 with the G3 🫢You are being too optmistic

I think the glaring part of this is the lack of a 512GB. With the rumors of price increases, they BETTER have a 512GB version of the Pro (although, I would not be opposed to the non-Pro getting that too. If Apple can give 1TB to their smallest phone, Google should have that 512GB option available).

Anonymous, 18 Jul 2023I absolutely agree when talking about downgrades and such, ... more"..especially when there are people that can't see a difference between 1080P vs 1440P."

That is absolutely true, but there are also some that can see the difference, which is why a screen should either be 1080P or 1440P, and not anything between them, because that's a just a waste, people who can't see the difference anyways, won't see it between 1080P and 1344P either, and on the other hand people who can see the difference will know it's not 1440P.

          "..I wonder why the change.."

Fortunatelly this leak suggests a QHD+ display, so there is hope, that there won't be any changes regarding the display resolution.

GregLu, 17 Jul 2023Stopped reading at Tensor G3, if it's made by Samsung,... moreWhy did you even start reading? It's a Google Pixel phone, it's going to have a Tensor processor. What next, are you expecting the Pixel 9 to come with iOS?

DarlingYext, 17 Jul 2023The thing is Apple never had a phone with a QHD(+) display,... moreI absolutely agree when talking about downgrades and such, proper screen and a higher resolution on a larger device quite matter, but yet again iPhones still have fantastic screens even never having QHD+, I doubt there will be a difference with such a minor difference in resolution, let alone being noticeable by eye, especially when there are people that can't see a difference between 1080P vs 1440P. There is more to screens than just resolution, I rather hope it s a quality panel with good gamut, good efficiency and durable.

With that said, I wonder why the change, is it due to going to a flat screen or having a bit different screen ratio to body with this new bezels and especially very interesting changed top design with kind of big speaker cutout and thick top rail/body frame, which was very noticable in leaked photos and also CAD renders.

Anonymous, 17 Jul 2023I doubt people complain about it when it is Apple. The thing is Apple never had a phone with a QHD(+) display, whereas Google had several, including the predecessor of the Pixel 8 Pro, and I don't think we as consumers should let any company get away with downgrades in their expensive phones.

Tensor G3 will be great upgrade on par or even slightly better than Snapdragon 8 gen 2. My next phone. 🙌

Everything is fine except for that hot soc and please a fast charge of at least 67w even if the charger is not included....

Flat screen ok* ultrasonic fingerprint reader super ok, just get rid of that hot soc, and use Sony one inch sensors... send samsung to sleep
