Anonymous, 29 Apr 2013gingerbread had alot of updates, from 2.3.0 to 2.3.7Like I said in the post below, the minor updates GB had do not make major updates.
API bumps are what is considered a major update. Gingerbread had only two major versions, and the first (API 9) was even deprecated, leaving Gingerbread with only one meaningful (i.e., useful, used) version today.

nmcunix, 28 Apr 2013This would be the first time that an Android version had mo... moreNo. Jelly Bean had two versions so far. A third version would put it right with HC and EC:
3 versions:
- Honeycomb: 3.0, 3.1 and 3.2 (APIs 11, 12 and 13).
- Eclair: 2.0, 2.0.1 and 2.1 (APIs 5, 6 and 7).
2 versions:
- Jelly Bean: 4.1.x and 4.2.x (APIs 16 and 17).
- Ice Cream Sandwich: 4.0-4.0.2 and 4.0.3-4.0.4 (APIs 14 and 15).
- Gingerbread: 2.3-2.3.2 and 2.3.3-2.3.7 (APIs 9 and 10).
1 version:
- Froyo: 2.2 (API 8).
- Donut: 1.6 (API 4).
- Cupcake: 1.5 (API 3).
Jelly Bean would not be the first to achieve 3 versions (i.e., 2 major updates). Eclair was the first to do that, and Honeycomb followed.
Of course... some major versions had lots of minor versions (GB had at least 8 that I know, ICS 5 etc.), but they are bug fixes and backports (case of Open Accessory in 2.3.4) and not make a major version, nor they change the underlying system in meaningful ways to apps (like API bumps do).

AnonD-58527, 28 Apr 2013I installed Windows 7 launcher on my old Samsung Galaxy S2... morewhy, just why would u do that? if you wanna try another OS, dont go with a launcher. you are better off playing with the phone at a store rather than using a launcher.

I suspect this is a minor update to resolve a few small bugs and security issues until KLP goes live. Just like 4.2.x was compraed to 4.1.x.

AnonD-58527, 28 Apr 2013I installed Windows 7 launcher on my old Samsung Galaxy S2... moreYou need to use a true WP8 to know what it is like. It's about integrations, lag free, beautiful everywhere, and reliable (no need for reboot/factory reset).

This would be the first time that an Android version had more than 2 major updates. History shows 2 major updates for the most e.g Gingerbread and Honeycomb. Oh well I guess a first time for everything, which is pretty lame in this case.

That's wierd. This is the first time I've seen Google do this. I remember when 2.2.1 was Froyo and then it jumped to the Gingerbread moniker with 2.3.
Maybe they got lazy and don't feel like abandoning the Holo look yet.

Dude, please look up info before you talk. the s3 still uses only 4 cores at a time even though it has 8 cores in the exynos 5 octa. it uses either the 4 a7 cores for light tasks, or the a15 for more demanding tasks
