Weekly poll: Galaxy Z Fold5 and Galaxy Z Flip5 pre-orders have started, who is getting one?

30 July 2023
The Galaxy Z foldables are the best they have ever been, but the competition got so much tougher over the last year. Are they still the best pick?

Definitely not getting either the Z Flip 5 (a.k.a. Z Flip 3SS) nor the Z Fold 5 (a.k.a. Z Fold 3SS) until Samsung reduces that hideous deep trench that could fit a underwater submersible inside it.

Other Android OEMs managed to reduce the depth of their crease in just one to two generations. Meanwhile, lazy Samsung still sticks with that hideous trench after 5 years of foldables.

Further, these phones are pretty much SS updates with minor changes.

If i have not bought a new phone last 3mos ago, i might be tempted to get the fold thru my carrier. Good deals (storage upgrades/freebies/discounts) and cheaper than last year's offer..
if i have to trade my phone, i only have to pay 750+usd for the 512G. For me, no go.. i can buy a new s23+ with that money. I might only get a foldable in 2025.

Not me. Folds or flips don't appeal to me, at least not yet.

I thought the OnePlus Open would probably be based on the Find N3 instead of the old N2?

I expect both Honor V2 and OnePlus Open to come to Europe and my decision is probably between them. V2 seems to have everything but wireless charging, also in my favourite color, but lets see if OnePlus can top that with wireless charging.

Razr 40 is almost a $500 cheaper so it's the better option

Unless you don't want that gap and the bulge of the S pen, z fold 5 is not for you.

tbh they need to make a similar case for the Z fold 3 and 4. Like, there's no reason to not do so unless for profit.
