Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5, Flip5 are already on sale in Russia

31 July 2023
The devices are slightly more expensive in a country where Samsung promised to suspend shipments.

They won't stop buying a phone they perceive to be of good quality because the company that made it also sold it for someone they (should allegedly, according to the narrative) dislike.

Anonymous, 31 Jul 2023This is obviously about official sales. I don't think Samsung is authorizing this. My guess is that a Samsung distributor or authorized retailer somewhere in ME (my money would be on the UAE) has already gotten their first shipment before the launch date. They can't sell them officially without Samsung raining hellfire down on them, but they can secretly sell the phones to sanctioned Russia. As long as Samsung doesn't find out who shipped the phones, there won't be any repercussions. And the Russian retailers clearly don't care about things like sanctions or embargo dates, so they can turn around and resell the phones immediately.
