Okay, lets add more RAM and put the faster DDRxxxxxx since user dont need ROM,lets give them 128GB and add 200$ for 256GB and another 200$ if they wanted 512GB,and oww we will remove SD card, because its useless slow and not safe for our devices.

      What a technological advancement.

24 gigs ram,are they mentally ill?come on,even good midclass laptops have maximum 16 gb ram.

Pumpino, 02 Aug 2023My computers only have 8GB of RAM and run fine for me. Why ... moreIf you include system file caches, OsmAnd~ can push the memory usage up to a few GB. It causes all other apps on my Sony Xperia 1 III to be killed in a few seconds. The phone has 12GB, but lazy-ass Sony still has the low memory killer set to maintain 4GB of usage.

MP , 03 Aug 2023Phones like this need a usb dock and a full Linux capabilities I wish, but Google has f'cked up Android to the point where Linux emulation isn't going to work efficiently. Not even native Android apps work well anymore. It would have to be dual boot.

You have very clearly never such phone, or you're lying through your teeth.

The memory management optimisation on flagship Chinese phones are no worse than on Samsung Galaxy phones and iPhones. In fact on some Chinese phones it's much better.

All companies use marketing pal it's nothing new. At least 24GB LPDDR5X RAM of OnePlus Ace Pro 2 isn't anywhere as bad marketing as Samsung's gimmick 100x moon zoom 🌕

Ki124, 02 Aug 2023For Heavy gamers, its improved Vpour chamber is far more use... moreThe new Vapor chamber cooling system if it actually performs like OnePlus claim then it will be much more beneficial for gaming than the extra RAM. But in the future there might be AAA games on the Playstore that require lot's of RAM, though I don't see that happening for a while. Future emulated games from other systems could also take advantage of the extra RAM to boost performance.

As for video editing on a smartphone I'm not talking about simple video editing, I specifically said extensive video editing. There's several very powerful video editing apps for smartphones that already take a lot of RAM. More RAM for proper extensive video editing whether on a PC, smartphone etc is always a good thing.

All manufacturers use marketing Samsung with there gimmick digital moon zoom, Apple with their retina display etc. Qualcomm with their latest Snapdragon processor. But we're free to choose the smartphone we want whether that's more RAM, 1TB storage, latest processor...

It shines with ridiculously high RAM numbers. Even 12 GB are enough for Android phones nowadays, hell, I don't run into RAM issues in my 8 GB S23U running Yuzu, which is probably the most RAM hungry app I have on my phone..

So many noobs here yet again, people who only scroll through facebook i bet. Yes you guys only need 2gb ram.

24gb is perfect for switching between chrome and yuzu without getting other services killed.

RAM for my entire office machines don't add up to even 24 GB combined. Anyway the figure is 363,631 and not 363,361 transpose error there.

Not a fan of this brand but don't get why people are complaining over the RAM when the same people have talked about wanting to use phones as desktops as well and for that RAM matters even more. Plus as much as it may be an overkill we should at least be proud of the fact that they didn't do what most company's do and choose to not put 24GB RAM as they could make more money in the long term. Also as the other person said yeah they should also focus on the battery if they are adding more RAM

And no, putting a 24 GB module in a phone is not something special. Anybody can do it, but it makes no sense at all.

And you are? Why should we listen to anything you have to say then?
There is innovation in the sense of finding a solution for a problem, or doing something better / more efficiently. These bloated ram sizes aren't in either of these categories. And then there is "innovation" as we see here, i.e. spec chasing and number bragging which is the primary marketing strategy of the chinese phone maker: to make ever higher numbers because they know the audience for these phones look at spec sheets, and compare them, going for the one with the big numbers.
But so far, there is no demonstrated use case as to why you would need 24gb on a phone, or how would you use it. As other users on the comment section have already pointed out, there are also the VERY REAL issues of:
                                        >bloated ram sizes contibuting to battery usage for no real gain
                                        >the acual performance metrics of the ram, whether it has good speed and helps with a good performing phone, or is it just size, no quality
                                        >the reality of all that ram going to absolute WASTE, because chinese phones to not implement smart ram management and instead just kill everything that goes into the background for a second
These are all legitimate criticisms and dismiss them as just "limited application og thought and foresight." as you say is not fair and shows that it's you actually that hasn't given it any serious, honest thought. Perhaps you can't, and always thinks the default more=better.
You should call tim cook then, and tell him his 6gb iphone is shortsighted and dumb, despite being the most successfull phone line in existence.
