Most likely will be nerfed to make it seem like USB C is worse than Lightning and make it seem like all this time apple chargers are more advanced and better than android chargers and will also give it some dumb name instead of calling it USB C itll be USB C DEEZ NUTS to make it seem more advanced and better than USB C like they do with display calling it Retina display even thou its Amoled or Oled.
Also itll probably be a 2.0 and not a 3.0+ charger to also make it seem worse. OR will say its USB C 5.0 to make it seem better. So yea.

No, Apple designed and released Lightning Port well before anyone else.
USB-C was a knee-jerk reaction to Apple.
Apple's port has some major advantages over USB-C but it does have a couple major disadvantages such as the weak plastic they use, instead of braided cable. And the other point being, they used USB-2.0 specification, whilst they should have released it with USB-3.0 spec.
The same goes for USB-C, they should have made it as 3.0 minimum.
There's a sea of low-quality cables, dongles, and devices out there. It's a frustrating exercise buying a USB-C device for a certain task and it not being able to do so. The USB consortium basically didn't implement a proper Quality Control mechanism, they could have done so passively with the 3.0 minimum spec.
Would I prefer an iPhone with USB-C ?
Meh. I know Apple would screw it up one way or another, with slow charging, slow transfer, and no TV-out function. So it'll be basically like the old USB-2.0 Lightning cable. So it makes no difference to me.
BUT.... if Apple actually innovates in some way, then yes, I would prefer it. However, I am currently an AndroidOS user for context.

They should’ve switched to USB-C for iPhone in 2015 but $$$ got in the way.
The only reason they kept Lightning is because of greed. USB-C is royalty-free unlike Lightning where they get royalties for every Lightning MFi cable or accessory sold.
Good thing EU is now forcing its hand on Apple.
Next thing EU should do is force iOS and iPadOS to be open source, and then ban parts pairing on hardware components.

Apple already got USB-C in many iPads. So add it at phones to would not be a big deal.

Personally I don't care. The only thing I use the port on my devices for is charging. I haven't transferred anything over cable in more than a decade, so this doesn't affect me one bit.
