"it does not mean a thing"
go over the best practices companies do...
you will never make something "efficient" if it was not effective first...
          it has been this way...
unless, you mean, a well-featured rom can still fit into 1.44mb...
this is not laziness as well, this is giving more resources to people who are creative enough to provide better computing experience...
now that intel nuc is dead, android can fill that aside from chromebooks and even decent computers...
and by providing higher spec, it can progress further...
besides, it is not as if we just shove that much of ram without modifying the system...
it means that much is supported...
so we will just smile with awe that a certain soc supports 24gb of ram and just let it use 8gb wt...
we have to broaden our horizon...
some things might be not "beneficial for you" right now...
but later on, it "might" be helping you more that what you can think of...
this might be a bridge to something better that if we are too negative about it, we will not see such "better" things...
btw, i am into sdcardslot and 3.5mm audio...
i mean, not all "progress" is helping...
but i do not know why this 24gb is going the same way...
i disagree on the other guy claiming that cardslot and audio jack should go, because it is weak? idts, my first smartphone still has working audio jack and sdcardslot...
but for bigger ram, i stand to what i said...

Anonymous, 11 Aug 2023>And the jack and SD slot were removed for good reason. ... moreWell man it wasnt my ecision.
So your words are interesting but you adressed them to a wrong person.
Companies for a valuid reason removed theses and they know why i just said my point and opinions rest does not matter much.
Like me nor you nor anyone else on theses pages could do something with that.
We just pick whats suits us best and keep going.

Not it was not. That's just a bunch of bull. Unless you consider being fleeced by megacorporations a "good reason", because from their perspective there is a motive, and that is to sell you discadable bluetooth audio.
              >Mechanical parts are usually first to breaks and in modern phone there is not enough space for many vires inside which comes with jack.
Again just more bull. You probably never had a jack break on you, or anyone you know. Arguments about compactness and making the phone watertight is also not valid as it is not and impediment.
              >Bluetooth and wireless was aways the future and to get people used to this future this was the best possible way.
Again, according to who? And why does it have to be mutually exclusive? This was sold to you, not something that rose organically. Wireless is not truly wireless you're just moving the wires somewhere else. And Bluetooth is terrible as far as audio quality/latency is concerned still having barely matched cd quality (80s tech) and is still inferior to the headphone jack overall. If it were better all around than maybe you could have a point, but since it is not, people should have the CHOICE to choose the audio delivery format they prefer. Otherwise your future is just commercial interest pushed on you not something that makes your life better.

Anonymous, 11 Aug 2023he has some points though… and you cannot use the “removal... more>and you cannot use the “removal of headphone jack” as a trump card…
I can because it's the perfect example of something that has been forced top down, not something that came as a result of consumer demand.
                >some manufacturers have to go ahead and put the most possible quantity…
It's just numbers it does not translate to a better user experience. This is ram is not being used. It will kill everything on the background.
                >do not even use optimization as an alibi…
Why not? You have clearly never used a cheap chinese phone.
                >one has to do it “effective” first, then make it “efficient”
That doesn't mean anything. The point is, throwing ram at the problem is not the solution, it's the problem, looking at the nature of that attitude. Incompetent programmers will always be able to saturate the resources they're given, and not efficiently i.e. your computer is not being used to it's full potential. Just tossing more ram instead of making coders make BETTER USE of it perpetuates that problem.
                >then upscale such to stir people’s interest to next technology and/or satisfy user experience…
Again that doesn't mean anything. See my point above about manufactured demand VS. something that is actually a naturally emerging consumer need.

Tyas, 11 Aug 2023Ha-ha. Then why we still have sim card slot? It's noth... moreWell plenty since i run own phoneshop company with 30 stores around my country.
I saw things that i never tgough they could be possible.
Like running and making photos on a feature Nokia phone 230 with both front and back camera at the same time.
Of course its a phone damage which needs to be fixed its no ordinary bug or setup in settings but its a good example.
About the sim cards even EU law said they will slowly adopt E-sim it will take just few more years and Sim Cards will be gone.
For me i would be particulary happy to have phone like Meizu zero.
Hole less and button less phone.
When i heard this concept failed i were feel bit sad but ordinary people learn new things harder because they were used for older things.
Know few now people on pension which were using T602 origram or app in their old computer at workd but modern windows 11 for example is too difficult for them at their age now.
Same goes for touch phones vs feature phones.
Old retired people on pension of age 60+ which were always using feature button like phones will find difficult to get along withIphone or Android device for example.
And even if they must the learning process will take many weeks.

In other words you cant train old dog new tricks.

My next phone as long as it comes to Europe and has 1TB of memory.

Tyas, 11 Aug 2023But RAM is not free. You should pay more for thing you neve... moreWell not needed.
But you never know maybe tommorow some crazy kid somewhere in his house maybe by accident and maybe because he is super clever will output a game or app which will require no less than 24GB ram.

So you never know. What enough today does not need to be enough tommorow and could be old in next 2-3 days and super old in a year.

Just look were we was 300 years ago, 200 years ago and 100 years ago.
New tech makes everything easier and faster.
Only thing i am waiting for is that crazy like helmet from Matrix movie which will allows you to learn and use anything you want in fraction of seconds or minutes and one single individual will be capable of divine miracles within a day.

More ram mmeans less burden for phone which needs to use less power to do more task.
If you get twice or even ten times as much strength as you have now plus ten times as much endurance but you will keep same figure as you have now will you complain???
                              Of course not.
But you could complain if you were looking like a super heavy addicted bodybuilder with overhyped muscless everywhere on your body which wouldnt looks so great.
But having same strength or even ten times more and keeping an unanimuous figure i.e. looking like any other person would make you feeling much better.
                              This is just example.
Ram is just element inside the phone from outer it looks exactly same phone but when run and preforming hard tasks difference will be mandatory.

24 GB RAM alone doesn't mean anything. It can be 2 GB physical + 22 GB ZRAM or something.

How much "PHYSICAL" RAM will it have? That's the important thing.
