AnonD-26572, 01 May 2013Windows Phone, of course. Windows phone, aka Windows Mobile... moreSamsung and HTC etc. who dominate in the Android market cannot sell WP in a meaningful way - Simply because they are way too much focused on Android and are not giving the required attention to WP. Ask them to produce the same number of WP handsets that of Android and see what results you get. What has these two released so far? 4 devices? Nokia alone has released more than that. Nobody wants or you don't want? Already WP is third in ranking, of which 90% is Nokia.

What makes Nokia think that they can pull this off? - Because Nokia is dedicated to WP not like Samsung and HTC giving half hearted efforts.

FYI - LG has already said they are not going to produce any WP device. You can replace Huawei with that.

It is not pride at least not an arrogant one. They made a plan and are sticking to it. They cannot afford to make experiments at this stage when they stand low in the market position. Its a high possibility that the plan might backfire.

I strongly believe it is about a new WP device, perhaps a tablet. Of course no android, no meego, no symbian, no whatsoever. Hey guys, Nokia will not ever make devices other than WP for smartphones and s40 for feature phones.
What i like to see is a powerful chip new lumia with sleek design and full of features.

Windows Phone, of course. Windows phone, aka Windows Mobile 6.x, 5.x before Win CE back in the day has been a marketing disaster for years. Hence why BB got so much of the corporate market in years gone by. On the home market it was Symbian and Nokia. Now BB are losing to IOS and Android and WP is not getting in to either market in a meaningful way. By refusing to produce Android devices they are limiting to a dead O/S that no one wants. Only a fool cannot see that surely? After all let's not forget Samsung, HTC and LG all make Windows phones. So the question has to be asked if Samsung and HTC etc. who dominate in the Android market cannot sell WP in a meaningful way, what makes Nokia think they are any different? It just comes across as arrogant pride quite honestly.

AnonD-26572, 01 May 2013So by their own admission they cannot compete so they will ... moreWhich product you talking there mate? S40? S60? WP?
S40 is the reason that Nokia is still in the market.
S60 it failed 2 years ago and no longer in service
WP is relatively new so it will take time to gain market, it a OS not a magic wand.

How could you possibly even think that with the current position Nokia will be having an immediate goal to take down Samsung. It be will like shooting your own feet. It is their long to term goal. Basically their goal is not to take down Samsung but to regain No.1 spot. Gravity pulls down quicker and it makes equally hard to climb. Same is the scenario here.

IF NOKIA JOINS ANDROID THEN, m really sorry but samd@@g will go bankrupt, there wont b anymore iphn sales, only cmpanies that will going to survive will b sony, htc and to some extent lg.... As they atleast have smthng gud , nt a cr@p like what sammy markets. I wud have luved a new , renewed symbian as only it cn carry the huge mp camera and superb video recording and battery. Only wish if nokia vud have had another o.s like meego or improved symbian and even chinese cmpanies like huwei, zte etc were using the same platform, like as in the case vid droids....that could hv lead to developers favoring nokia too much....but dat was just a dream...neways vid window is millions times smoither and faster then droids and its unique and awesum.......NOKIA WILL MAKE A CMBACK HERE IN INDIA, AND HOPE ITS SMTHNG NEW WITH MEGAPIXELS I WINDOWS!!!!!........AWESUM

All fandroids wishing for Nokia to have and Android phone hear this. Android is not magically going to fix itself if Nokia puts it on it phone. If Nokia releases an Android phone it will be just another lagging Android phone with all the fragmentation and malware issues.

If Nokia enters Android market it will loose it uniqueness and will be just another Android OEM nothing much more. Only Samsung is able to make profit from Android and all others are struggling. By going with WP it is able to exercise full control on each and every aspect. If it enters Androids market it will have to struggle to survive. But staying with WP and Asha they are able to dictate terms.

I personally think Nokia should not go with Android but I think Nokia will go with Android when its resourceful enough to stand up against Samsung.

Currently they have to manage with very less resources, and Android on less resources is very terrible. WP works smoothly on lowest of the specs and Asha on even more lowly specs. Currently there is no other OS in market that can satisfy this criteria.

So my request to the Fandroids is stop shouting "Nokia should go with Android". Its not going to happen, at least not so soon.

There are going to be no shifting of gears for Nokia. Not because it's automatic but because bullock carts have no gears at all. And this bullock cart can't match the speed of porche.

Samsung has launched galaxy s4, apple will launch iphone 5 very soon and sony is already doing good business with their xperia series. where does that leave nokia in terms of advancements?? windows 8 already in market and no signs of any further windows (or doors) as yet. Then what will happen on 9th May?? All wait and hype for just asha series, mediocre phone really. Oughh forget it baby.

Jolla Sailfish OS Device(May be Nokia N950).

Probably new Asha phones, as the Indian market is important for Nokia's Asha phones, so why not announce those phones there. Looking forward to it.
