iPhone 15 Pro models might still come with 8GB of RAM

Perhaps higher storage variants will be paired with more RAM this year.

Maybe for 8gb of ram for the ultra. The price will reach $2 grand for sure.

Anonymous, 13 Aug 2023It will probably stay at 6gb. While 6gb suffices 8 is still... moreIn every circumstances 8GB should be bare minimum for a flagship in 2023, no matter how well your RAM usage optimization is.

That's great, iPhones will finally get the ram that my phone from 2017 already has

I understand that iOS does memory management better than android (or requires less RAM for the same tasks, whatever the case may be), but hardware-wise, isn't more ALWAYS better? Also considering that memory chips (both flash and RAM) are falling in price nowadays, what stops them from, say, at least giving 12GB of RAM, other than "un-futureproofing"?

It might be good enough now, but what about a few years from now, when the OS and apps may require more memory than they do now? I remember a few years back when people say an iPhone 12 with 4GB RAM was plenty sufficient (when even android midrangers often came with at least 6GB), look what happens now...

Maybe they could have a 6/128 to be able to keep the same price, then 256 and more with 8GB RAM. Many speculated price increases but the final prices are almost impossible to leak.

Im Pretty sure we need that number 8!

The 8GB rumours have been around for nearly a year now.
It would make sense that Apple steps up to 8GB RAM and 256GB Storage for the Pro Models. I think it's likely. They can cut down to 6GB RAM, or even older A16 Processor for the Base Models, but that's not a consumer-friendly move* to be honest.

Though I don't know if it's a sensible idea to get an iPhone 15 Base, you should really spring for the Pro Models for that proper upgrade. Otherwise if you want to save some cash, and are coming from an earlier device (eg iPhone 8 Plus), the iPhone 12 Pro makes a lot of sense instead of the iPhone 15 Base.

                * not that I am implying Apple is very consumer friendly, they are certainly profits oriented.

It will probably stay at 6gb. While 6gb suffices 8 is still better. Especially with the prices you pay.

Considering Apple is a master when it comes to software and RAM optimisation, its unsurprising and I don't see it as a problem either.
