A brand just needs one product to change their perspective with the consumer. It wasn't the iphone that did it for Apple. It started with the ipod and itunes.
Let me run some other numbers so you understand where I'm coming from. China is emerging as a major foldable market. In Q1 of '22 this is where the market share stood: Huawei 57%, Oppo 18%, Samsung 6%. In Q1 of '23, where China saw a 127% yoy increase in foldables, this was the market share: Huawei 27%, Oppo 27%, Samsung 26%.
As the foldable market grows in China, Samsung is not being left behind at all. They are exceeding in a market where they have struggled for years. It's Huawei that is losing market share and that was before the Z5. To be fair, it was also before the Moto Razr, Mate X3, Honor V2 and Mix Fold 3 so it will be very interesting to see how this plays out for 2023, but it shows there is more at play than slimmer devices with slightly bigger screens.

Having a 3.2x and 5x seem too close in range for a zoom. Also, incidentally it has dual 10MP cameras, just like the S23 Ultra's cameras. The 3.2x could easily replace the 5x zoom, so having a separate 5x seems pointless

Remember, Samsung used to make really terrible devices when compared to Nokia and Eriksson products. All it took were some new, high quality devices and the supporting marketing, and bang - Samsung became the 'Go-To' name for Android devices.
Those that already know the Chinese brands like Oppo and Xiaomi well, will already be brand ambassadors in a way. I use Oppo, and the quality is indeed better than Samsung as far as I'm concerned. The moment I am able to get my hands on one of these Fold 3's, it's a done deal. Superior build quality, monster internals, at a competitive price? Sounds like a win to me, and the likes of Samsung should sit up and take notice, else these 'unknown' companies (as Samsung previously was) will knock them off of their pedestal quicker than they can say, "WTF Happened".

I actually played around with this brand new xiaomi mix fold 3 in shenzhen China today, very impressive, thinner and significantly lighter than Samsung Galaxy fold 5 (next door store) and xiaomi mix fold 3 at rmb 8999 compare to Samsung Galaxy fold 5 at rmb12999, even the screen look a bit better, then went to next door shop at huawei fold that was also impressive in a different way as it's folds outwards,

People are selling S21 Ultra (same year as the Mi 11 Ultra) with defects like burn-in and black dots at low prices now. Even immaculate 256GB S21 Ultra can be bought for only around MYR1700 (30000 INR).
