Part of the reason is the power dynamic in the West , moreso in the USA. Network have the power and are the more dominant partner which if you're the phone manufacturer trying to keep prices low and the business model you want to pursue vanishes

The exception to this is Apple, where there is no compromise

Xiaomi confirms its nicest phones in 2020 aren't leaving China
By Michael Allison published August 13, 2020

Xiaomi this week announced the Redmi K30 Ultra and the Mi 10 Ultra.
The company later confirmed that these phones would remain China-exclusive.
There are also no plans for a rebranding at this time either.

Xiaomi this week announced two powerfully specced models, the Mi 10 Ultra, and the Redmi K30 Ultra. Both models were created for the company's 20th anniversary, and they're both packed with audacious specs at acceptable prices (especially the Mi 10 Ultra.)

If you were holding out hope that Xiaomi would announce U.S. or Europe release dates though, it's time to quell that particular fantasy. Speaking to Android Authority, the company said: "Both Mi 10 Ultra and Redmi K30 Ultra won't be launching outside of Mainland China." It also confirmed to GSMArena that it would not be rebranding these phones either. They simply won't be coming outside China in any form.

Xiaomi could change its mind eventually, but that's the news at the moment. Despite misgivings in the western market about Xiaomi's MIUI software, the company does have excellent hardware especially with the Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro. With the Mi 10 Ultra, it leaned into that advantage 120%, and it's a shame it won't be coming to western markets.

I would be extremely naive if the major players at xiaomi are not aware of the interest shown in their flagship phones and would certainly read the review pages themselves (hi) [there is a Xiaomi shop near where I live] in store requests

My point is there are ways to supply niche market if and when it decides to

Anonymous, 14 Aug 2023Huaxing screen? No thanks. Should be Samsung, LG or Sharp. Huaxing is operated by TCL, one of the bigger OLED display manufacturers. And this phone is using Huaxing's top of the range LTPO panel, so I would reserve my judgment until the comprehensive review.

Anonymous, 14 Aug 2023It will work on the other band But not band 20 So it'... moreBut you will get a rubbish signal and it will drop off to 3g or 2g in many rural areas which rely on band 20 in many European countries so it is an issue. I live in China but often travel back to Europe with Chinese model phones. No band 20 is an issue in countries that rely on it. Often not so much in the large cities but in smaller towns and villages it is

I would not recommend anyone to buy xiaomi's expensive phones because their post sale service is pathetic. You shouldn't spend more than $150 on xiaomi phones.

              2) sensor would be smaller
              3) module would take more space and might be thicker than current.

robi10101298, 14 Aug 2023omg, still 5x telephoto for a 2000 euro+ device, so disappo... moreYou can see that they go mindlessly for visual design fight, halving the thickness in 2, then trying to offer cameras with 5+ kinds of FoV, while not mentioning their miniature size.
How much better would be a case for a real phone flagship with a screen on it, it would be even cheaper if you would buy it on your old phone. - And you would still end up with better specs.
Folds right now have nothing to do with a flagships...

Perfect dimensions, perfect screen sizes and aspect ratios.
The inner screen is almost 210 cm2, basically the size of 2 s23+ screens! Which means that you can comfortably watch in split screen a video the size of s23+ screen while doing another task at the same screen size. Now that's true multitasking power, and very comfortable multitasking at that.

Super nice phone. Really difficult to get excited for when its NOT coming out of China. Oh well they don’t like money but I do know who likes money. Oppo and Oneplus, Samsung, Google, HONOR,

Trying so hard to be Apple with the naming scheme, and products but doesn’t do the International thing like Apple. So, just like Samsung, if I want a Samsung product, I’ll get a Samsung(or companies that actually release products internationally and I mean ALL products.)

omg, still 5x telephoto for a 2000 euro+ device, so disappointed... I don't understand why phone manufactures are not using the 10x telephoto, is this a scamsung propertary tech?

Very impressive. If this came out outside China the Honor V2 would have some tough competition. On paper this might Even seem better cos of wireless charging, although im not sure if Xiaomi has as good software yet.

As for pocletability of Fold5 someone talked about, this is the most horrible phone ive ever pocketed. Its nice when opened up but terrible in every way when closed

People always look at Folds from the perspective of the Chinese manufacturers (which try to find a formula to beat Samsung) and slab phone users. The surface of Mix Fold 3 is almost as big as that of S23+. This is nowhere close to the pocketable Z Fold5. For instance, I as a Z Fold user, and probably many other Z Fold users are fan of the small footprint. I want a pocketable mini-tablet which also serves as a phone. I don’t want a giant phone which can be unfolded to a squarish tablet which has no dedicated portrait or landscape mode.

You can make things always thinner by making the surface bigger like pizza dough. The Folds are 3 dimensional. If you make them thinner, they will need more surface and get bigger. You guys just praise how thin the Chinese devices are while ignoring the much-increased surface they need and the very strange aspect ratio of the inner display.

Last quarter Huawei's marketshare was tied to xiaomi , without any 5G devices. Xiaomi is falling everywhere , just like samsung.
Even samsung foldables sell more in China, somewhere samsung is extremely irrelevant.

In China ppl pay $2000 on huawei if they have to, but not for xiaomi.

                                      Shame it runs MIUI 😔
