Remove the headphone jack, increase the price. Remove the sd card, increase the price.

I guess now that Sony removed the telephoto lens... you people will be cheering. More features removed! Another reason to increase the price!

          I'd be surprise if the Xperia 5 gets a 12GB RAM option. It suddenly makes the Galaxy S23 lagging behind in hardware.

                8→ XR → 12,13, 14
                8+ → XS → 11 Pro, 12 Pro, 13 Pro, 14 Pro
                X → XS Max → 11 Pro Max, 12 Pro Max, 13 Pro Max, 14 Pro Max

                Apple make 3 phones during the iPhone X years (8,8+,X) and it's still true up to this day. 12/13 Mini and 14 Plus are just size variation base iPhone(series number). Eventually, the descendants of 8+ and X become only size variation but it would change again this year (iPhone 15 Pro Max or 15 Ultra would have periscope lens whereby iPhone 15 Pro will only have normal telephoto lens).

                The only feature that Apple remove from iPhone 8 to 14 is 3D Touch, which is niche and doesn't as essential as telephoto lens.

                On the other hand, Sony follow 3 simple series.

                Xperia 1 → 1 II → 1III → 1 IV → 1 V
                Xperia 5 → 5 II → 5 III → 5 IV → 5V
                Xperia 10 → 10 II → 10 III → 10 IV → 10 V

                Starting 5 IV, Sony has been downgrading the specs of its 3rd camera. From 5 III to 5V, they downgraded VARIABLE periscope lens 3x & 4.4x zoom to measly 2x zoom camera. Now they completely remove the telephoto lens!!! Of course people are getting mad about it.

                If only 5 III isn't riddled with overheating SD888, I would be recommending people to buy 5 III instead of this worthless expensive disappointing 5 V.

                            The strange thing about this brand is that every time I see videos and photos of people from Japan* they carry an iPhone, for years I haven't seen people from Japan in videos, photos, social networks etc etc, carry a Sony! What's more, I was watching an Electronic music concert and every time they focused on a group of young Japanese people, they all had iPhones

I left Xperia for a Xiaomi 13, but some people do prefer a wired headphone to keep BT signal away from their head, for enhanced audio quality, etc. Just because YOU have no need of features, don't demean them for others that may.

You could use the same argument on ultrawide - it is always worse quality than the main camera, maybe Sony should remove it as well?

                                If Sony is asking a flagship price for this phone, they should not be cutting corners. It's that simple.

                                  Tell me one good reason why you should buy this instead of the S23, other than the headphone jack, FM radio and MicroSD?

                                  This will be a hard question for the time travellers from 2015.

                                    S22, S23 or Xiaomi 13 telephoto is good enough I don't care if it's more than 80mm.
