Id rather a buy a phone with dual sim and a sd card slot rather than an esim and cloud storge that you pay monthly. SD card is very flexible. They ditched it only because they want you to pay more for storage options which is very bad. Now nand storage are cheaper even on pc. If they want my money then provide something for us who needs sd card. Right now Im done with flagships,a 120bucks xiaomi phone is more than enough.

In 2021 a 4/128GB option should be minimum.
In 2024 all phones should come with at least 6/256 or 8/256GB minimum ram and disk space.
All midrangers should start at 12/512 and flagships at 16/1TB

Anonymous, 30 Aug 2023Never mind 4K, apps are keep getting bigger and bigger ever... moreI dont think we need to worry that next 10 years for sure that 1 app will be like 100GB in size. We dont even have programs on windows that large as of now. Maybe there are only few you can count on 1 hand for some graphics designing and processing programs but that be about it. Games are of curse a different story on windows at least, but on mobile i also dont think that be something common in next 10 years for sure. Also by the time these get so large the phones probably have like 1TB as standard storage on them if we still have phones in the form we have now.
For your own security reason it's better to have backups for your data and backups for backups as we know that you can get a virus on computers that will lock you out of your device and lose all your data. I dont think that be long when that kind of a threat be on mobile devices too and then probably the microSD wont save you also with your data as that be locked for access also even when you move it to other devices
