We're literally at the point of diminishing returns with respects to Samsung and their "S" series.
With the S22 and S23 Ultra, they rounded, expanded and brightened the viewing area but gimped the selfie camera and available RAM on the base 128GB models (compared to the S21 Ultra 5G).
In 2024, they are allegedly bumping the megapixels again and offering an LTPO display (welcomed) but the display area will be based on the A54.
And, years after utilizing multiple lenses, their imaging software is still rubbish.
Where is the incentive to "upgrade"?

Hahahahha both main and zoom wil remain the same size. The only upgrade will be the copium you have to inhale to justify buying this phone.

I am more excited with Google using GN2(Samsung's own sensor) on Pixel 8 series than Samsung focusing on MP. This is just marketing shit. Their sales are relatively better compared to past 2 series as they moved to Snapdragon 8Gen2 across the board and unlike past 2 years they are manufactured on TSMC N4. Otherwise their phones have been meh and they are continuing to lose market share to Apple in developed markets.

Anonymous, 01 Sep 2023It is topic among ppl that lack photography knowledge. To... moreWell, I completely disagree. My biggest complaint about Samsung processing is exactly that - extensive sharpening and processing. Samsung is just oversharpening photos to the point, where all you see is rather big frequency details, and all small ones are lost. HDR processing is just bad. Halos effects like from the first HDR software ages ago. Photos that both the Samsung Camera app and ExpertRAW are producing look like from someone who plays with sliders in the LR/Photoshop for the first time in their life - and does not know when pushed them too far. GCAM is fixing that all. It is rather similar to something more like Sony produces in the last Xperias. Of course, you can find configs to GCAM that will do exactly what you say, but it is not something that is being promoted in that GCAM thread on XDA forum.

rosesarerosie, 01 Sep 2023Honestly they don't need a 1 inch sensor Their proces... moreyes they do, i compared it with a x90 pro+ with 1 inch sensor, samsung "good processing" is just extra oversharpenning to fake details, as soon as you put both in indoor light or lower the difference in details gets bigger and bigger and samsung needs extra time to take the picture which means more likely to end up with a blurry pic or blurry moving object

Anonymous, 01 Sep 2023There is limit on value of f to be used taking in considera... moreHuawei use smaller sensor, but performance is on par with bigger one in low light as it is f1.4 vs f1.8 for example.
Another advantage is you can shoot with f4 for more detail in stills, which in many phones now is hard to get with such bright aperture having almost everything out of focus.
Not to mention video with less of focus hunting.
They also got quality lens with edge to edge sharpness, on par with oppo.
So variable aperture is pretty useful, that's wh6 it exist.
