LOL, 03 Sep 2023Sony and reliability? That's a good one. Anyway, wh... moreAh yes, breakthrough sensor technology and a sensor size nearly identical to the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra's main sensor, in a body far far smaller, and there's better options available in Samsung phones. I know Kool-aid has like, sugar in it, which is addictive, but c'mon man. This is ridiculous.

€250 increase for the vanilla and almost €350 increase for the Pro is a hugely significamt price hike. Google better deliver the best from the Tensor G3 chipset, or else it'd be DOA.

Anyway, when it comes to phones, only the most hardcore Sony fans still buy Xperia phones. Everyone else has moved on since around 2014-2016.
You want better value for money, Chinese phones are available. You want top of the line photos and videos, many options better than Sony. If you want budget phones, definitely NOT Sony phones.

Anders, 02 Sep 2023The Sony 5 V is overpriced garbage. So are the Pixels. Both... moreI've never had a bad experience with a Sony product. Their products are more expensive, but for reliability I think that's worth it. Whether you like it or not, the people who use Sony phones regularly enjoy them, your opinion of them being garbage does not influence that. Some people are more than willing to pay the Sony tax if it means they don't have to buy a phone that's about as useful to them as a PC with 512GB of non expandable storage and no high quality audio output. This may be hard for you to imagine, as a Sony hater, but people who value those features, enjoy Sony phones. You can call them garbage all you want, those of us who value those features simply don't have any other option. Not to mention, on a technological level, the Xperia 5 V is every bit as advanced as your precious Samsung S23. High refresh rate display, Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, high bandwidth USB-C port, much higher quality main camera sensor, OLED display tech, the latest version of android. Your hate for Sony is all in your mind. Overpriced or not it's just as technologically advanced as an S23, and in some areas more advanced, such as the main camera sensor. I am not licking Sony's boots. I'm using my brain and recognizing that a product being more expensive than comparable products, but having the features I value in a phone, does not make it garbage. You base your opinion on so few metrics, I have to think that you're really just blindly hating Sony, if it would only take just one metric of the phone changing for you to not call it "garbage".

ed, 02 Sep 2023but the camera is not the same, and people pay for that not ... moreThe main sensor is identical to the Xperia 1 V's image sensor. It doesn't matter what people are paying for, because they're paying for the features Sony put in the phone for their users, whether they're part of that demographic or not.

Anonymous, 02 Sep 2023Expandable storage is dead, it slows down the device massiv... moreAbsolutely right, despite the ludicrous speeds of modern processors, it's too much for the them to handle a 100MB/s storage device. In a similar vein, UFS storage just plain does not work when an SD card is inserted, because sCieNce. You wouldn't want to use an SD card anyways, because they magically break after a year, again because sCieNce.
Listen to yourself. Your statements lack all logic.

Hmhmn if the price jump happen (after my pixel 7 gets old) then better jumping to iphone than give the same money for Android.
Of course there's the "A series" option but if I still want "something more" then sorry but I don't pay Apple's price for receive Android experience.

99% of samsung user never show the "samsung" logo on its back because covered by phone case/ hand during usage. People buy samsung because of the samsung brand image, great combination between software and hardware.
Try selling Samsung without OneUI, then the marketshare of samsung would be collapsing. OneUI is the best UI.

Anonymous, 02 Sep 2023I guess you've never used a Samsung flagship? Samsung ... moreI did. I used base S21 and base Pixel 6 before and Samsung usually have 3-4 days (or probably 7 days in a very rare condition) gap compared to Pixel when it comes to monthly security patch. This might be can be some regional issue (or not), but at least that's what I've experienced. If you talk about less buggy experience after update then yeah S21 is much less buggy, even though I'm not really a fan of OneUI compared to Stock Android but ngl my Samsung is still smoother than my Pixel.
