Nah....dont believe it people...it is just marketing

Nick Tegrataker, 07 Sep 2023They are putting that amount of RAM for marketing purposes,... more'I heard that's because many rogue apps often drain the battery quite aggressively by showing constant ads and many 3rd party retailers in China (without permission from the manufacturer) install such apps onto phones before selling them to their customers.'

The manufacturers themselves preinstall many third party apps as they are very popular in China, and some of them do aggresively run in the background. It's not generally third party retailers installing them. New phones are sold sealed and most Xiaomi phones are bought online or via a Xiaomi physical store (known as Xiaomi Home) or from the two major online reatailers jindong or tmall who sell the phones exactly as they are if bought directly from a xiaomi home store. There may be a small number of third party retailers that open the phones but this is quite rare and sales via these would likely be miniscule. Xiaomi phones themselves come with lots of ads within the system in China which will play when launching Xiaomi system apps. It's basically similar though for Oppo and Vivo who also have these built in ads in the system. I've disabled them so it's much improved but I still get some ads. For example in the games app ads still appear when opening. Like I mentioned though this is more or less similar for all the major Chinese brands (Oppo, Vivo, Honor, Xiaomi). Basically, on the Chinese variant of Chinese phones you have to go for the smaller brands like Nubia/ZTE or Motorola if you want to completely avoid the ads.

Anonymous, 06 Sep 2023The UI barely handle 1 update without losing performance. ... moreLike Samsung? Tell that to this my Note 10+; on its last OS update (android 12), but running better than ever. Much better than my Mi 11 Lite 5G ran on day one. Lol

                That bump though eeh!

Well done, Xiaomi!!! 🥳 Hopefully, the upcoming upper mid-rangers will get at least 4 years of support (in a 2+2 or 3+1 format) from now on (Poco F and X series, Xiaomi Lite series).

Anonymous, 07 Sep 2023Let's pretend a well done android skin needs 24gb ram ... moreThey are putting that amount of RAM for marketing purposes, one must be absolutely stupid if they think their phones will have 24GB or 32GB of RAM because they NEED it, because of course they don't.

"Well done UI does not need to aggressively kill background activities"
I heard that's because many rogue apps often drain the battery quite aggressively by showing constant ads and many 3rd party retailers in China (without permission from the manufacturer) install such apps onto phones before selling them to their customers. It's exactly the same reason why many Chinese Android skins block custom launcher apps in the mainland. You can easily change the settings so that your apps won't be killed automatically after a while, I did that on my Huawei P30 immediately after I got it and I haven't noticed any slowdown at all since then.

Anonymous, 06 Sep 2023The UI barely handle 1 update without losing performance. ... moreStop spreading these kind of talks without any scientifical studies, i have a Poco F3, came with android 11 and now have android 13, it's flying and the battery is as good as 2 years ago, i don't have any major issue with it, everything works great, this trolling over MIUI being bad needs to stop, most of the people that says so are using redmi note 8 from 2018 or have read stuff online and repeat it like braind dead sheeps

ashrobb, 07 Sep 2023I'll never understand the uncontrollable need to be on... moreAfter latest security patch my phone asks me to turn on battery saving mode when it drops to 10%.
Fun thing it is the fact battery saving mode is always on, since 100%.

Bugs on my ipad have never been fixed.

Sylv10d, 06 Sep 2023Good move Xiaomi. Maybe my trusty Mi9T pro could get a rest... moreSame here, the August 2021 security patch being the "latest" on the Mi9T is concerning. I'm definitely not going for a Xiaomi again after this one, even with their new software promises...

Nick Tegrataker, 07 Sep 2023Nope, that has never been the case for Xiaomi flagships.Let's pretend a well done android skin needs 24gb ram or even 32 some chinese oems are testing for 8g3 devices.

Let me guess phones that are testing 32gb: one plus ace 3 pro, next red magic and any xiaomi K series aka mi T.

Well done UI does not need to aggressively kill background activities. MiUI does.

I'll never understand the uncontrollable need to be on the latest Android for an older device. Most of the time software updates introduce bugs and are heavier on the hardware, slowing it down. Most of the time it is better to keep the original Android version released for your phone.
Security patches are borderline useless. This isn't Windows XP. It takes several user steps to be able to introduce malware on a device, so they won't help you if you're that gullible.

In the history of android companies stopped at ONLY giving the OS it came with

Apple fans mocked android for this too

And now we are finally getting somewhere we are still complaining

Easy to announce 4 major updates starting with Android 13 while Android 14 comes out at the same time. That's one major update less
