It's a plastic base with a coating on top of it that mimics leather. It's not the same as plastic back because of additional layers on top. A regular plastic back can crack under impact but vegan won't since it is softer on the outside

I may not be a reviewer but I very much dislike regular plastic backs on phones, however my current daily driver has a faux leather back with a faux leather case.. to me they feel different enough to have a need to treat them differently.

                            The material might be the same, but I don't like the feel of plastic, however I do like the feel of faux leather.

                                  I use a case so for me it can be plastic, vegan leather or glass. It just has to be durable and shouldn't drive the price up!

I get it for the Unihertz Luna & Jelly Star, but this phone? Granted we didn't see much of the design, but that is a unique standout design. They take pride in their designs. That doesn't mean they are trying to be the first at anything, but even if they were so what? Every other company that was first turned out great. First smartphone company is making billions. This comment just doesn't make any sense.

You don't have to agree with it, but I personally prefer it over both regular plastic and glass.
