Some say that this isn't a periscope, but Wikipedia states:
"A periscope is an instrument for observation over, around or through an object, obstacle or condition that prevents direct line-of-sight observation from an observer's current position."
So, if the sensor is the observer, it's still a periscope.

Ivo., 13 Sep 2023No 10x zoom - dead on arrival!Dead on arrival eh? Somehow I highly doubt that.

There is so much misinformation. The 15 Pro main camera doesn't have a larger sensor than the 14 Pro. Many websites state that, but it's wrong as the pixel size and resolution is the same as previously.

That's it, I'm gonna come to your country to smuggle my next Sony phone. This is absolutely ridiculous!

I saw the specs of the 15 Pro Max and I saw that the selfie camera does have OIS. Is that true?

With every passing year, the gap between iPhones and Android phones closes just a bit more. I used to be a die-hard Android person, but if Android keeps shooting itself in the foot while the EU keeps forcing Apple to open up its locks, I could see myself buying an iPhone as my main phone in the not too distant future.

Ivo., 13 Sep 2023No 10x zoom - dead on arrival!I am a bit surprised, too because Google gives you 11.4 megapixels at 240mm since the Pixel 7 Pro.
And it is possible that Apple would have to design a completely different lens, if they want to give you 48 megapixels at 120mm. The reason is that the sensor has only 1.12 micrometer pixels. A 48 megapixel sensor for this lens and for this field of view would require 0.56 (!) micrometer pixels. This pixel size is currently only available in 200 megapixel Tetra²pixel sensors as far as I know. So, I guess it is possible that there could be a Quad Bayer sensor with 0.56 micrometer pixels, but otherwise, Apple would need to design a new lens for a larger pixel size (larger sensor). Or alternatively, they could use for example a 31 megapixel Bayer sensor with 0.7 micrometer pixels.
