5v is not worth over 5iv.
S23 is not worth over s22.
11 is not worth over 10 pro.
Zen10 is not worth over zen9

Base models are trickier because Apple keeps them around as cheap models, but the 13 and 14 are now your not-so-cheaper options (not forgetting the SE with its crappy old design).

I think we're forgetting this is just a phone, and as an everyday driver, the non-pro 15 is fine just the way the non-pro 14 was last year - it's nothing worth upgrading for if you have a recent model, but if you need a new phone and the Pro's hefty price tag is too much for you, the base model is more than plenty for 99% of users.
That said, Apple's product decisions are all done to drive picky buyers towards the more expensive model anyway - and it's nothing new, they do this with Macs and iPads as well.

[deleted post]They're overpriced but at least they have a memory card slot and at least 120HZ screens. Probably better displays, too. Apple doesn't even let you pay for an SD card slot because they want to have another hand in your pocket by selling you cloud space.

Do a comparison between the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 15… the iPhone 15 is actually a worse version of the iPhone 14 Pro… worse screen, worse camera. No improvements whatsoever.

Basically, don't buy any new entry-level iPhone. If you want a cheap(er) iPhone, go for the previous generation. If you want a new iPhone, go for the pro models.
I still have the iPhone 12 mini on my wishlist.

Stupid Apple always making people pay a premium for things you can get on cheaper phones like they're doing you a favor. This is why it's not so good to be a "fanboy" because you get sucked into that political tribalism and you don't see reality. I never liked their phones anyway but it never ceases to amaze me how shallow people are in terms of thinking and how they don't think deeper. Apple should be seen as a big rip-off and anti-consumer but these people just eat everything up that Apple feeds them, from the propaganda to the overpriced products. Apple gets away with being really conservative and stingy. Not good traits. Unbelievable. This is how they get away with a 60HZ refresh rate. All these iPhones have looked the same for years as the laptops Apple sells, yet these people never want anything much different. It would make for an interesting study of the company and their consumers.
