Foldables may look cool. But not that practical.

What was prediction 5 years ago for the future? I remember the foldable sales said to be huge in future and yet every year the sales been low.

Good news, flip offers flexibility while fold is for multitasking

            I doubt it.
OEMs are still putting foldables as their ultra premium models, even above their regular highest end slab phone. Add on the technology is still in its infancy, with handsets hardly surviving their first year, it will take a while to reach 5%.

I mean Oppo, as a brand, has almost 6% of smartphone marketshare worldwide. And that's already a LOT of phones. Do people really think there will be as many foldables by 2027?

              Only 5? Oh boy! :D

                  I paid €1,239 for a 512GB Flip5, before trade-in discounts.
Google will sell the Exynos-based Pixel 8 "Pro" (rebranded to Tensor) with 128GB for €1,235.

If someone is inflating prices, it is not Samsung.

Almost a whole decade and they will still be niche product. So much for foldables being the future 😂

Nice to see that. I'm still not on the fence about buying a foldable phone just yet.

This is really optimistic to hope the foldables reach 5% market share by 2027.
It's only a flagship 4 digits price tag so only the minorities can buy them.

If they start to sell them around 400 euro then that 5% would make sense.
People who want a compact phone have no other choice then by a flip phone but for majority it's still too expensive. As of now where these cost 1000-1500-2000 euro i dont see that it be sold for masses

18.3 million for just year alone is huge. i thought it would only reach up to 500k

If they were so great, I would have one already. No spec satisfaction.

I wish foldable wasn't just a pretext to ramp up the price of smartphones even more. I can buy a very good regular phone for about 300$, it can pretty much do anything. What is the justification for foldables costing more than 1000$ ?
