14 September 2023
The US models are the only ones go go eSIM-only and the only ones with mmWave.

They have own reasons for doing so. Apple did it because they can and their ultimate goal of a portless phone. Moto did it because of internal space constraints. They've added it back in later razr versions, something apple won't do

Anonymous, 14 Sep 2023Every Phone has a sim My point is that on a ESim world only the Hotspot option will be available.

Or you prefer Roaming fees instead? Using data and call on the sim/ESim of your country of origin when traveling, then the Service Provider will love the bill that they will send you.

GAMIR3DH, 14 Sep 2023Im sure Samsung is already doing so...The first phone that went eSIM only was Motorola, not iPhone. It was the 2019 Moto RAZR I believe.

Apple buys, copies, and steals so the tech from everyone else. And everyone else copies their greedy and dirty tactics. It's a vicious cycle that is continually getting worse.

If you remove the Sim slot most people wont buy your phones. Im not sure if its courage if you ruin your own business. Also: Apple ONLY does it in USA and nowhere else. US is one of the smaller markets for smartphones btw. China, India, Brazil are the huge markets...no courage involved.

                                1. Must pay a new eSIM for moving to another phone. Which is quite expensive considering it's only a "virtual".
                                2. Some of the carrier cheap plan is NOT available for the eSIM. So, the eSIM will end up with pricier plan.

Apple did this so people will find it very difficult to buy and resell used phone. I know I try to avoid buy the used 14 series. so difficult to check

In Europe, there are still fees for activating an eSIM sometimes. As long as that is not banned by law, I don’t want an eSIM only phone. I like the freedom to change my SIM between devices whenever I want, without paying any money.
