I can say clearly now, once you taste 10x, you hardly can go back.
More like I want 15x.
And I don't mean great performance in low light, I mean sharp image in hdr raw in day light.

Doesn't matter when there's too much hardware problems with the brand.
Horrible and silent speakers.
Zero noise canceling microphones, unless you want to record video. Extremely yellow skin on Asians (watch Tokyo drift). Camera software glitches on random times and needs force shutdown.

"Note: This is a self declared rumor made using an egg tray and past Xperia launches."
If that's already not enough of a red flag. Also, Sony phones never tend to get leaked so often. If this is Samsung or Apple or even Google, there'd be tonnes of leaks by now.

You and I, we are also not charities. We don't care about the reasons behind business decisions but about product quality and value for money.
You explain very well, why Sony phones have inferior quality and value for money. Am I supposed to pity Sony and buy a worse phone for the same money?

It will have an amazing spec sheet, no doubt. How many of the features will actually work? How many features will be lost after a software upgrade because Sony doesn't want to maintain them? How much of the OS will be missing due to lack of drivers and licensing? How many advertised radio bands will be disabled because Sony doesn't want to pay for testing and certification for them? Does Sony even have SA 5G on their 5G phones yet?

Sony is working within their means. They are a business not a charity. If increasing support window would increase the price too much, it's absolutely understandable that they didn't. Their phones are already more expensive thanks to low numbers sold, they don't need that. You really don't know how business works. I'll admit I'm no expert, but I know enough to know that it's nowhere near as black and white as this business should provide this because this business provides this. These are businesses, not your parents.

Meanwhile, Sony lost to other Android competitors. When other brands come with longer support, charger in the box, better stability and so on. Their recent 5 V is a joke without a telephoto.

Dr. Watson, 15 Sep 2023>'dead on arrival' >Xperia 1 VI is planned... moreI can barely comprehend how that commenter thought that was a logical comment. Phones are not one size fits all devices, there are quite literally thousands of reasons why one might prefer an Xperia to an iPhone. Manual camera mode, versatility and openness of android, game enhancer tool, 21*9, cutout free display, dedicated shutter button, large battery, fingerprint sensor, expandable storage, wired audio, ability to act as monitor for camera, stereo front facing speakers, and hundreds of sub categories within those. Still think phones are one size fits all devices? Well probably not since I replied to a reply because I don't want to deal with people who lack critical thinking, but you get my point. Ridiculous comment on so many levels.

You don't know how to shoot manual, that's fine. Just admit it though, don't bash Sony for your incompetence, because you're the one who's needs are different than those of the target audience.

FatShady, 16 Sep 2023starting their year with an early flop... the whole serie ... moreNext-to-no bulk deals, low number of units sold, bleeding edge technology used (exmor-T, variable zoom in phone body), what do you expect? A company does not have an obligation to serve a device at a certain price based on their competitors pricing. Sony certainly doesn't push the kind of numbers to compete price wise, and either way the Sony tax has been a thing forever. Those that value the features of Sony products swallow the pill, those that don't, don't. Clearly you're not one of those people. Even so, Sony phones actually have minimal Sony tax when you consider the number of units they're selling. Sony is a business, not a charity. They have no obligation to serve a certain number of software updates or sell their phones for a certain price. The instant you forget that you're a business and start giving users everything they want, you go out of business pretty darn quick. Of course then you'd just say good we didn't need them anyways, but I digress. Point is, Sony is working within their means, and charging what is ultimately a fair price for the product they're delivering and the money they need to spend to make it.

It is just a phase, albeit a long one, but until then even companies that don't believe in this bullcrap have to put environmental numbers in their quarterly reports just for investors to have any interest. It's bad, and aside from apple (they confirmed this yesterday with the woke virtue signalling in their iPhone event), you can't even tell which companies actually believe in this crap versus are just doing it to try and sell more for little effort.

rizki1, 16 Sep 2023Do you think 1 VI will be better than 5 V? no, it will be t... moreAh, YES. Because popularity is an absolute measurement of quality. Your Kool-aid addiction is starting to affect your daily life sir, last I checked the iPhone with its USB-2.0 for 799$, no manual camera mode, locked down OS, 60hz display, and small battery was the most popular flagship phone. Clearly there is no correlation between popularity and quality.

the whole serie ... moreYou are saying this like the majority of flagships people buy aren't overpriced.
Releasing their flagship early will give Sony a living chance against Samsung and the likes of Xiaomi. The Xperia 1 series coming out mid-year was always suicide for them because all other Android flagships were already on sale by then.
