JoXim, 16 Sep 2023You can do that just by using slower chargers for example. ... moreI currently do that i.e use slow charger from other phone, but when I'm out and need to charge, it'll be a task to find a slow charger and taking my charger everywhere will be so much extra effort. So it'll be convenient if the option exists right in phone itself

Because oppo is starting a free battery replacement for 4 years of the phone

Gsmarena team come on man the Economy can't be that bad
Can't you guys just invest in a thermal gun some kind of thermal imaging to show the actual temperatures
For a site like this don't you think it's time to make that a standard in your reviews
Can you at least open your ears to this constructive criticism.. instead of just telling people it didn't "get hot"
It's long overdue man

When i'm not in a hurry i charge my Edge 40 Pro with a 20w brick, from my old Moto G100.
There is also "Charge boost" option in Battery section, for maximum charging speed.
With this option turned off, like in my case, phone is fully charged in about 30 minutes.
With it turned on it took me about 23-24 minutes of charging.
Really, no need to turn it on, this is plenty fast.

With charging this fast it needs every charging feature that has appeared on other phones. Overnight charging mode (either manual or the Oppo way called optimized night charging). 80% charging cap (Samsung has this). the Xperia/ROG feature where while plugged in, the phone doesn't charge but it's powered directly by the charger which would be useful with 80% battery cap and while gaming. Low temperature charging mode which would prioritize lower temperatures but still fast charges especially considering the max speed at 240W is at normal warm temperatures, it should be able to do the usual fast charging of 20-60W at closer to room temperature.

A phone for under 500€ has 240 Watt charging, yet not even the most expensive iPhone starting at 1449€ beats 20 Watts. That difference really is shocking and yes, even to me with an S23 Ultra which also charges relatively slowly. Even here, it's more than twice as fast as the iPhone.

I'm okay with my 18W charging. Do I wish it was faster? Occasionally, when I need to top it up in like 10 mins, I do very much.
But most of the time, I leave the phone on charge for hours. So I think fast charging should be optional. That is, the phone will charge at slow and safe speed by default. The user can opt for fast charging if they want.
I think if apple ever were to implement fast charging in the iphones, this is how they'll do it.
Anyhow, good to see super fast charging phones exist.

When is it coming to Europe?
My Realme 6 Pro is getting old and the Xiaomi 13 is a tad too expensive for my taste, even if it already dropped down to € 700 here.

Fast charging is the future. Brands like Google, Apple, Samsung will have to follow, adapt or they will get more and more criticism.
Modern life isn't compatible with you having to wait 1 or 1.5 hours to fully charge your phone if you need to quickly go out. People just say "oh buy a powerbank" or "charge it when you are not using it". That's workarounds and not solutions!
If Samsung, Apple and Google say this affects battery life, then create new tech so batteries don't degrade as fast. Invest. But they have to give us better and faster charging. Be it in phones, cars or whatever needs to be charged.

These speeds are insane and quite frankly an overkill but if the phone comes with an option to adjust the speeds then it's okay and I can consider buying such a phone. It is not everyday that I'll need such speeds. Sometimes, I prefer to charge my phone slowly and care about the battery

Once one of you're family infected by 120Watt.
All of the other family members can't wait the turn to upgrade.
(And I'm disappointed with Xiaomi that some of their phone this year downgraded to 66Watt charging -- but, hey. It's xiaomi lost)

But we still don't know how rapidly that will wear out the battery, one might not notice it at the beginning, but what will happen after maybe 6 months... And why aren't they giving battery warranty?!

What I like about Oppo's SuperVOOC charging system is that all the heat is on the charger, not on the phone. Xiaomi still can't get it right.

No one has exploded yet, we have had these super fast charges for 3 years and no one has suffered from explosions... WHAT happens with Samsung, Apple and Google is that if they increase the fast charge to these numbers they will have to put the charger in the box again
