Nokia, Ericsson & Huawei are the biggest players in providing network equipment for carriers. Two of those are Europeans and the reason Huawei gained market was due to their lower pricing for equipments (suspicious to say the least).

Example number 500 of fear mongering. They don't want Chinese equipment bc "China bad" even though there's no concrete proof huawei send user data to the Chinese government. Instead they'd prefer to force their carriers to spend more money tearing out the existing infrastructure and replacing it. A cost I'm sure the consumers will have to pay.
