I really use and enjoy my smartphones. Trading in my 14 Pro max and paying around $750 more for the 15 Pro Max seems like an affordable yearly expense. Life is too short!

Don't you think 30 updates in 5 years (6 every year) means software is badly optimized and bugs are found here and there.

iPhone 4 no more
iPhone 5 & 5S no more
But I am still finding people using iPhone 6 and so on.
If your problem is only the battery, you can go to Apple Store or any store, replace the battery.
I still believe that this now phone is the best until we find out the more advance tech, maybe like in the minority report movie. So I believe that this now phone can be used longer than the 10 years ago phones.

1 version upgrade yearly with 5+ updates/patches, so at least 30updates for 5years
even old iphone still getting long frequent update, but u still not getting all latest/new features
so cant say u getting all benefit from the updates
in the end you still need to update apps too
and apps support probably matter more, as most of phone usage is using apps
beside i dont think frequent-updates equal/means better quality
