A brand new samsung phone is losing its value around 20% in 2 months just because of the pricing going lower and from market probably even 20%. So i would say after 2 months you lose around 40% and not 90%

Also, yes you can use very old Samsung phones, but the hardware will definitely not help you. I tried it myself with a Galaxy Note 4 and a Galaxy S6 last year. And those phones had lag in everything (even in google maps). And the batteries (by the way completely new) will last about 1.5 - 2h of SoT. It was very bad experience for me, try to use them as my main phone.
In comparison, I could use as my main phone an iPhone SE 1. With less compromises than Samsung models I mentioned earlier. Certainly less lag.

If you buy a phone at £800 and then go to a store that are A. Trying to make money off you and B. Mainly focus on samsung and apple devices and you happily sell it for £400 then you're the idiot and are awful at understanding value based off the company/person you're selling too.

IPhone is not Samsung/Android. With Samsung you could put the newest Android version in 10 years old phone.

Still expensive though.
The good part with iPhones is that even a 3-4 years old model can be purchased and used in 2023 with no problem. For example: iPhone 11 Pro Max. And it received IOS 17 and most certainly will receive IOS 18 next year. That is 2 years usage for a beast of a phone. And the price in marketplace is around 400EUR.
I bought mine with 450EUR in very good condition (no scratches on display or back), with battery health 100% (because the second hand store changes the batteries when they reach 80% health) and 6 months warranty (with invoice and all).

I wish iPhone 15 and 15 Plus had gotten at least 90Hz displays if not 120Hz like Pro versions. Even a Galaxy A24 that costs less than $200 has a 90Hz display.
