The design makes the phone. I hated trying to type on an Iphone, the full slide out keyboard makes this device way better, plus with people being able to make third party apps for it the fact that there is no video or bluetooth sharing will be vanishing into thin air quick!

You people complain way too much. Its not like the IPHONE was perfect either. Had tons of problems and so did the 3G Iphone. You dont know if the phones good or not wait till it gets out and they fix glitches nothings perfect to start. Plus if you dont like it not having video share and stuff dont get it. Thats the whole point of them creating different phones! They have different features for different people. No phones going to make everyone happy, if you dont like it and want to complain get a different phone!

It seems like a lot of iPhone fanboys are trashing this phone truth is the iPhone keyboard kinda blows being touchscreen I like the similarity to the sidekick qwerty board. Its also 179 vs. only 199 and it is 1gb memory vs 8gb. memory. People seem to trash the design saying its an ugly phone. it not as buttonless as the iphone get over it. i think it looks cool the touchscreen definitely awesome and opensource? hell yea.

When this phone was first rumored last year, I was like meh. Then as it got closer to the official annouced date and more info leaked, I was really excited about it. This platform has so much potential.

                However, this phone does disappoint.
                1. No 3.5 mm headphone jack, which would be okay if there were stereo bluetooth support.
                2. No Stereo Bluetooth support a2dp etc...
                3. No Video recording

Did they even mention if the device has a led flash?

I am hoping #2 and #3 can be fixed with software updates after launch.

Now on to T-mobile, the phone pre-order is priced at $179 for exisiting customers who is currently eligible for upgrade. They should have mentioned the non eligible current customer upgrade price of $299 as well. Atleast to me, during their live conference call yesterday it sounded like all current T-Mo customer were eligible for the $179 price with a new 2 year contract.

The 1 GB data transfer soft cap is somewhat shady (you don't get charge but your speed goes fubar once you are over the cap). But honestly if you are not using your phone as a modem and downloading torrents, you should have plenty of bandwidth. Most forgets that the phone does come with wifi and that people should use wifi when ever it is available. If you are at home, have a wireless router setup and you are using 3G for data on the phone, then it is your own fault for going over.

Personally I am going to wait for the second Android based phone or if the bluetooth and video recording issue is resolved.

It appears from a comment on this comments section that T Mobile will cap the 3G accessibility on this device, after which higher costs will incur, thereby limiting the users' ability to ulitise mobile web in full. It is this greed which most carriers are guilty of, which are responsible for preventing mobile web from truly taking off deterring many from embracing the web through their mobiles. This has got to chance. If only more carriers would offers pre-pay and post-pay services with all inclusive and reasonable web based access on mobiles. This greed is hampering growth in the digital economy. As far as this device is concerned, the price demanded by T-Mobile has probably ruined anhy chance of real success in the market. Android developers must be furious. And the consumer has yet to benefit.

This is the worst preview from GSM Arena for an intro devevice/OS. Not fair. The iphone lacked(still lacks) so many comtemporary features and still go high ratings...come on guys!

Well,am here by surprise...reading the article and comment and just wondering and THUMB DOWN.
                                i used 2 WM devices,iPhone and 7 Symbian OS.
simply without any problem E90 Communicator (Symbian) = all of them.
I have 4' inch screen with 800pixel in each row and stable OS where i dont need to restart the phone after many weeks of Really Heavy use (more than the PC many times).
I have a great support and tones of free 3rd party applications.
Push email (and battery didnt drain after 2 days).
and the most important i have COPY & PASTE option (have it from my 6600 in 2003).
Sorry Google...WM getting worse cauz they leave the target user as a business and try to make an iPhone killer where they dont need to have an iPhone killer...now Google wanna make an Apple OS killer and Apple OS is the best in UI and worst in everything else.
Symbian (which no one here mention is the best for me).

I'm really disappointed too coz I was waiting for a phone without restrictions but these guys just opted to go the iPhone way. An Application store, no video, and no Bluetooth file tranfer? It would be much better if the Google guys were European (or chose a European manufacturer and carrier like SE or Nokia and launch it in Europe so that it'll also be available here in South Africa) coz Americans are crazy and dumb all the time, they're like the Japanese and Chinese(including Taiwanese) who are innovative but do'nt make things for the world.

It's good that Google jump into the communications business. I think that is not Wrong at all. That is good. Imagine how many populations in India ( over 300mil ), China ( Over 1.3bil ), and not to mentions USA and other countries. So the market of mobilePhone is the way to go for the business. Even apple right now jump from Computer to iphone. Meaning they knew that the growth of Desktop or laptop may not as fast as mobile phone. Imagine 1 people can have 2 or 3 mobile phones, while we as a person maybe only have 1 desktop, maybe 2 laptops, and plenty of mobile phones. ( CDMA phone, GMS phone, and different operator, and nowdays you may look some mobile phone with double Sim-Card )....

Since this is the first product from google, Give them sometime to make things better and nicer in the future.

In the end - > Stepping into communications is the way to go right now.

But we have to remember that If Google or Apple wants to beat Nokia or SonyEricsson, maybe they have to think twice or triple, ( Please look into how many different kind of phone that they already produced, so much inovation and so many level of choices and phones variety)

Dreaming is good, but don't dream to much. You will get sick.

Its sad that such a highly anticipated phone is like...a dud. I always like to think that these types of phones that gather a lot of hype will get good reviews and liked everywhere, but sometimes they just arent. Im w. tmobile and this phone seems really great. but all the disappointments seem to just draw everything back..sigh...typical tmobile...disappointment
