After 5 years your phone's battery health will be 50%, if you're lucky (and don't forget Pixel's overheating issues which are bad for battery longevity). You're not going to make it to 7 years of OS updates unless you can get that battery replaced (only in US of A). Believe me I'd buy Fairphone in a heartbeat but it's sold only in 11 countries, even Sony has better availability 😂

Until they can provide worldwide official support it's just marketing.

It's much quicker for makers to abandon battery support for sealed one. With removable ones, you get more vendors to choose from like how older Samsungs and LGs still have batteries being made for them.
And don't give us the third party bad vibe after what happened to Galaxy Note 7 boom boom edition. Even some third party battery have better life and/or capacity than OG ones.

Good to know Google values repairability so much and they have 7 years of software support. Too bad the battery capacity dies in 3 years and it’s a pain to replace it, I wonder why

You should be happy that you got the 7 years of updates in the first place. If they didn't make such a promise all the issues of battery and soc will disappear. If you want a phone with removable batteries and 7 years of support you know where to look for crying out loud.

What good is support for 7 years of OS updates if the battery is non-removable? The battery won't last 7 years and Google's repair program in collaboration with ubreakifix isn't available in my country.
