Qualcomm is rebranding its Windows on ARM chips to Snapdragon X Series

11 October 2023
Previously, these chips were named "8cx" or "7c" or similar. This is in preparation for the arrival of the Oryon CPU cores.

If their primary motivation was to simplify branding to eliminate customer confusion, why wouldn't they just name it W-series as in for Windows machines? What's now the need or advantage of going with 'X'?

I only know four WoA PCs existed with 8cx Gen 3 and 7c+ Gen 3 combined. They are Samsung Galaxy Book 2 Go, Lenovo ThinkPad X13s, Microsoft Surface Pro 9 5G, and Robo & Kala 2-in-1 laptop. There are a lot of reviews for the Surface and Robo & Kala.

dcdev, 11 Oct 2023I would try ARM-processor, but with LinuxRaspberry Pi has always been ARM-powered, so you may want to explore that.

Oh great, more "X" branding 🙄

Another of the rename to X

Oh, those nonexistent chips that are used in laptops that nobody has seen.

windows on ARM it's like racing with a tractor, Boot on linux and create a windows vm

After 3 generations, I still haven't found a brand that sells Snapdragon powered laptops.

I really can't wait for the upcoming 8cx Gen 4 because of the alleged eGPU support. It's about time Windows on ARM got noticed and taken seriously. Not everyone likes to have macOS.
