Qualcomm is rebranding its Windows on ARM chips to Snapdragon X Series

11 October 2023
Previously, these chips were named "8cx" or "7c" or similar. This is in preparation for the arrival of the Oryon CPU cores.

Anonymous, 11 Oct 2023Don't be delusional. Just because Apple going full ARM... moreAnd ARM is gonna keep sucking for games until they add AVX2 support, programmers don't want to modify their programs accomidate splitting the 256 into 2 128s. To much work for a market that's basically nonexistent.

The 7c+ Gen 3 was a paper launch, no product released.

Starting again a Gen 1 product?

Qualcomm, your problem is not your branding, your compute products haven’t make the mark.

                    Snapdragon X gen 1 🙄

potato4k, 11 Oct 2023At this rate, we would see Intel made a comeback before ARM... moreSo i'm going to guess you don't like AMD. Oh and if you think that budget laptops are garbage you can thank Apple for that.

At this rate, we would see Intel made a comeback before ARM Windows machines really go mainstream. Seriously, Apple is already gone full ARM since 2020, and today we still see most Windows laptops using old Intel gen 11 or 12. The upside is Intel is improving, but it's not like Qualcomm is giving a good fight anyway.

Tee, 11 Oct 2023Did they have a chat with Elon Musk?Didn't you hear? He's going to buy Qualcomm and license the patents for free to everyone, right after he buys Manchester United, puts the cocaine back into Coca-Cola, and makes Twitter/X fun and profitable again.

Hzzif, 11 Oct 2023Snapdragon X8 Gen 3 feels more suitable for the naming tbhI can see some people confusing X8 with x86

Here's a good question. If Qualcomm is rebranding its windows ARM chips. Why not named it something better than Snapdragon X series? Apple can call their In house chips as A series for mobile and M series for tablets, Macbooks and desktop.
