Yet only to find out after presentation was over and camera's stopped rolling you were sent walking home with your party bag as a consolation.

Not cool Qualcomm, timing is ruthless really! Must've been last day before stock sharing options matured. IF their worried about Huwaei leaving, they should really push Microsoft to loosen them to make PC laptop and tablet deals with HP, Acer, Asus, Dell and the rest.

This will be a HUGE clap back for Microsoft to sit back and watch a competitor's platform of hope get decimented: GoogleOS - its already on the wall - Google and Qualcoom partering for RISC-V for WearOS is a bit early if you ask me.

MY POV is as we move towards more and more Digital/ AI tech, the jobs will(be created initially but no soon) go down. So try to delay the AI / Digitization as much as possible.

Anonymous, 14 Oct 2023Hi everybody Does anyone know the answer to my question? ... more>How much is the BoM (bill of material) of a specific model of Snapdragon chipsets and how much do they sell this processor for?

this is a difficult question to answer

just talking about the silicon - 3nm cost is around $20k per wafer.
            each wafer around 1000 chips
            defect rate 30% approx

therefore each chip around $30 ea.

wholesale sell price is around $160 ea.
sounds like a massive markup yes but that doesnt include research costs which are plenty and also factory tooling etc etc.

when factories get upgraded from one nm process to the next the cost is in the billions of dollars so to work out the cost /profit after that its a much bigger problem.

Basically, it's their chips that created slowdown. They need to tell few phones with SD8+Gen1, SD8Gen2, SD7Gen2. They need to tell why redmi best selling series ditched them, Feels like they are playing SOC game to help Samsung. They need to ask why why they lost Google and other OEMs for dimensionsity chips.

Clearly a preparation for the loss of business from Huawei (mentioned), Samsung (using Exynos for S24 and S24+), and Apple (Apple will start using their own modem in 2025 with the SE4).

Samsung should focus more on Exynos chipsets. Market competition is great. Qualcomm want to much royalties for things they didn't actually invent by rather ideas stolen from other companies
