Huawei Watch GT 4 review

15 October 2023
The new wearable blurs the line between a smart device and a fashion accessory.

Love my GT4, does everything I want it to do, would love sim support but maybe but other than it, it's just a beautiful device. I get a lot of positive compliments about the looks and where I must differ is the battery life, it lasts much longer than the test watch you guys use, I train everyday, sleep with it on, work with it through out the day and it lasts more than a week and a half...I even have a high usage watch face on and most monitoring going..anyway, good review, keep up the work

I have been using my Huawei GT4 for more than 2 months. This article did that 12 days it is not achievable. This is not what I have found. In my case I typically get 12 days with all sensor ON except skin temperature and GPS. I do not use AOD and use a watch face with black background.
I think that if I disable heart sensor, disable Sp02 sensor, sleep tracking sensor I could easy get the 14 days that Huawei is claiming to have.

Ognjen, 22 Nov 2023Hello I own a GT4 (green one). There are couple of things... moreVoice assistant: you can activate the voice assistant iconf on the watch and send voice commands. I used it to make calls, it recognizes my English very good so far. You can also ask it to tell you the weather i.e.

There is a air pressure measurement on the watch, you can program it to send you notification on a change of weather coming or possible storm.

NFC chip is there but it's disabled as far I know here in Europe (Wallet is not functioning).
Supposedly, ECG sensor is also present, I'm told, but not functioning at the moment.

Blood pressure time notifications are functional, I very much use it. There should be some Bluetooth ones out there, I haven't tried to connect them to HH, but should be possible.

            Hello
            I own a GT4 (green one).
There are couple of things to correct in the article:
            - one can connect any external pulse rate monitors, as well as cycling cadence and speed sensors; I'm using my Polar H10 strap, as well as my Garmin Speed and Cadence sensors, this was one of the main reasons I bought this watch. You can import an i.e. cycling route from wherever as an GPX, TCX or KML file or link your Komoot account and prepare a route there. When you save it to Huawei Health, you can send it to your watch for full guidance - turn by turn navigation style.
            - you can broadcast your HR from the optical sensor in the watch to say your gym trainer gear
            - Strava account linking is fully functional and it's been so, for quite a while now in HH. I used it with my ild GT2 for a year now
            - Spotify music control is possible through installation of additional app in the watch.
            - GPS is much more precise than in my GT2
            - my own testing of battery shows something like 10 days max with average use
            - you can send a pre-arranged message on call decline but cannot type it
In my view, GT4 is a major upgrade sport and health-wise. There are many features from the sport watches such as Polsr and Garmin.

Hello, the story about connecting external BT sensors is wrong. You can connect it. There's a "more connections" tab on my GT4 where you can add pulse monitors and/or cadence and speed sensors.

              Regards.

I have an Honor 50 and my European bank is BBVA which has an app and its own BBVA Pay system so I use that instead of Google Pay (which doesn't work with dynamic CVVs).

I've used the same system on an Honor 10 (prior to Honor being spun off).

The BBVA app is natively available via AppGallery.

Has any BBVA user tried using BBVA Pay via an NFC enabled watch?

This is the most "watch" looking wearable out now.
It's too bad it doesn't run Android Wear/WearOS. And I would also question it's chipset, when Samsung seems to actually make improvements, whilst Apple is the only one competing (against itself). So it just has a couple of big deal breakers.

Same with the Xiaomi Mi Band 8, almost perfect for the price.

The Apple Watch right now isn't just the most sold smartwatch, it's actually the most sold watch. Yet I just don't like it's User Interface, and it just looks awful from a fashion sense (having a rectangle screen with curved sides, and non-symmetrical controls). I don't think Steve Jobs would have green lit such an eyesore, that goes for The Notch as well on the iPhone and MacBooks.

You can use Strava with the latest version of Gbox, full sign in and everything. There is an onboard AI voice assistant that can help carry out simple commands (haven't tested many) on the watch but the NFC payment is a bummer as it's region locked to China.
