Tried it for a day and I'll be returning it for only one reason. The protrusion where the sensor resides rubs my skin. I owned all the bands until band 6 and neither of them did this. Xiaomi changed the design a little bit, and now that part is not rounded, it's squared against the rest of the body. Apart from that, coming from the 6, the screen is brighter, the interface is more fluid. The device itself looks more refined, vibration seems a little bit subdued.

The "scientific review" from The Quantified Scientist is only a preliminary one, and it's of the Chinese version, not the international one. The Xiaomi Smart band 7 was an improvement over 6, so I think we can assume the international version of the Xiaomi Smart band 8 to be as good as, or better that Band 7.

So much useless chatter for a device that only costs 30 or 40 dollars! Buy it and if you don't like it, throw it away and buy another one!

Wait for the Band 8 Pro to go global and then make a decision (it'll certainly have GPS as the 7 Pro had it). It'll be around the €70 mark.

A left field alternative, Black Shark GT watch is not a sport band but is around the same price and has in-built GPS. Like the review said, you really cant go wrong by choosing the Mi Band 8

mi band is good device but i prefer huawei band 7 or 8, especially band 7 that have thin design
