Bob, 20 Oct 2023hahaha, lol, 1,800 for a disposable device. this is some ki... moreWith this stupid word brand "Open" is enough reason to get USD 1000 discount.
The acceptable price for this mediocre device is USD500.
Only good quality product with popular brand like Samsung or Apple have the priviledge to sell phone above USD 500.

DoA.
Second place as world's Ugliest phone in 2023, after newest Oppo flip phone.
The acceptable price for this rebranded Oppo Find N3 (literally the same phone) is USD 500.

0odle-noodle, 20 Oct 2023A rich student is more likely to buy a fold 5 over the Open... more
- Rich student will buy iPhone as its standard around other rich students and it would be not fancy to have other phone.
- Galaxy fold is not really that reliable or have better performance, to be honest any high end phone is snappy as one next to it, times where you could see difference in speed are long gone, as even higher mid range phones are fast. yes you can get some 5fps changes in some unoptimized games but that is game problem not phone that just brute force smoothness if you dont see big difference on everyday usage only geeks that abuse their phones with bencharks will bother with checking those differences. Average user will take phone, see if its fast and just dont care as everything works anyway.
- Samsung folding screens are also not the best, that crease and protection layer on galaxy is worst on the market, as image quality is the same as rest(read: very good), as just like with performance, you seriously need to get some benchmarks to see difference, and if you dont see it in everyday usage... why bother? Not to mention that average user dont even know what oled is not to mention some "magical symbols" like HDR+ or 144hz for average user its magic.
- Galaxy ecosystem is not really that reliable or better, samsung unified it nicely compared to old GUI, but it is still bloated mess, and as I said it have lots of fancy features but they are not that great for average user, they look cool on fold, but people are lazy, they will use "old ways" even on folding screens(best example is that majority of people still prefer buttons over swipe actions)
Like always people forget that majority of phone users are not people that even read sites like GSMArena. they dont care, they dont bother. For them its fancy phone, latest model, android or iPhone. if people want to see what 90% of users of android are, ask your parents. they dont know what version of android they have, what is screen refresh rate is. if its galaxy or xiaomi UI. they have device that have Messenger/whatsapp and youtube.
If user have money, they buy what look cool, not what have 4% brighter screen or have 7% better cooling on chip compared to last model.
If user have money and want to be trendy, they buy iphone.
If fan have money they will buy latest model of (insert name here) company.
Average user will buy what operator offer at that time or what son/friend recommend.
Looking at market globally geeks that care about stats are minority.

Katalin, 19 Oct 2023I think you are forgetting there are rich students tooA rich student is more likely to buy a fold 5 over the Open since galaxy foldable are more reliable, have been out for longer, have so many features foldables should have, has better and more reliable software, a better ecosystem, and has better performance.
This is all if they don't just buy an iPhone instead, since those are most common with students

[deleted post]Just commenting on only the s23u getting 8k disabled. If it's just the s23u, and not the s22u, s21u, n20u, or s20u, there's likely a reason behind it, such as a major bug that causes photos & videos shot in 8k to become corrupted on the s23

I misjudged it, when I didn't see wireless charging, but this thing has a lot of potential, if they go down in offer to 1400 for Christmas I would think about it, I'm not interested in entering the world of stickable devices yet, given, but this one makes you think

[deleted post]As always your comment is nothing, but gibberish and bashing everyone that you disagree with. I don't get why your behaviour is still condoned here, or why you are even enjoying this, but you do you I guess.

So Fold5 can be currently had in 512 spec for 1200€.
And Samsung phones are on sales all the time.
They release expensive and drop hard after 2-3 months.
I don't see how this can play out well for OP.

Galaxy Z Fold5 can be cheaper than the Open. Z Fold5 support S-Pen and complete IPX8 so OnePlus Open with that price is joke.

I'm really disappointed that this doesn't have stylus support like the previous gen, Oppo Find N2. They're just giving the monopoly on it to Samsung which is incredibly dumb given that these devices are promoted as "multi-tasking" ones.
I'll just wait for Fold 6 and hope that Samsung fixes its stupid narrow form folded state.
