"It remains to be seen where Facebook goes from here, as clearly not many have liked their first attempt at entering the mobile phone segment. As for HTC, their bad luck streak just doesn't seem to end."
Correction, their 2nd attempt. Their first attempt was the "cha-cha" as mentioned in the article, which was a piece of s...

Anonymous, 14 May 2013This only proves stock android isn't the answer.People hate... morenothing to do with stock android at all, a lot of people thought it was a facebook phone, why bother ith a branded device when most people already have more then enough access to facebook in their lives, either through tablet, phone, computer, smart warch, whatever, the integration is needless, the price was also high for what is essentially a weak phone, while there may be a market for this device, its target market already want to own much much more premium galaxies, and iphones, long contracts on gimmick phones and locked to networks will also contribute to poor sales, so to say people do not like stock android, i suggest you look at nexus 4 sales, very cheap handset on pure android, sold like proverbial hotcakes

The only thing, that is the same is, that it is build on Android^^ HTC first is totally different than stock android. Never used Android before? There are hundrets of launchers and the Facebook launcher is the one, which people seem to not like, has absolutely nothing to do with Android Stock launcher ^^

Nothing wrong with the Android OS.
The root cause of HTC First failure was due to:
1) Outdated hardware. HTC should be blame on this. HTC should able to advise FB for a premium device and not an outdated device. Mark Z has been cheated by HTC.
2) Tied to 2 years AT&T. This is a huge mistake by FB.
By right FB should follow Apple's iPhone strategy to have world wide release for unlock phone.

What they should have asked themselves first is this: in all honesty, do people today really want MORE (not better, just more, mind you) Facebook in their lives, or well, maybe... LESS? Not a hard question to answer, if only one pays attention to the myriad of comments out there complaining about the whole "I caught the bear but it won't let go of me" nature of Facebook...

FB know nothing about device marketing. They should learn from Google.
FB should sell this HTC First as unlocked phone in FB website with price like $149. It must be cheaper than Nexus 4.

I feel the FB Marketing VP should be fired!!!!!!!!
He/She know nothing about the what people want in FB smartphone.
Imagine if FB can offer the similar specs (not more & no less) like in Google Nexus 4 but customized to FB, the situation will be different.
