Report: Musk considers blocking X in Europe due to inability to comply with regulations

On a serious note: social media have significantly contributed to watering down the informational signal-to-noise ratio on the internet.
Since everybody can post anything publicly, there are literally billions of misleading, incomplete or plain false statements on the internet.
So, it will certainly be no harm done to anybody if a social media platform disappears.

Musk denied this already. Maybe try to write up news about an organization in the EU that wants to bankrupt alternative news orgs.

Not surprisingly, Musk believes laws should only apply to other people.
So -9% by dropping Europe and another -20-50% if he institutes the "small charge" he's threatening, and Musk's game plan to turn $44 billion into $4 billion will almost be complete.
Of course it's not like he can't afford it and it's probably worth it to him just to have a platform where he can get the attention he craves.
(I hope he's not counting on Cybertruck profits to make up the difference.)

Others have made the very same statement but never actually did it. It would mean to big a loss of data and income. However, given the state and behaviour of Musk, he might actually do it - I kinda hope he does, would be a spectacular move and extremelx interesting to watch.

Great idea! Twitter-X is completely useless. He should block it in Africa, America, Asia, Europe and Oceania 👍

In a way Elon should pull out of EU. His SpaceX is a complete (read 100%) fraud and this kind of crap may not play well with EU officialdom. If the X content cannot be fraud-all-the-way in EU, at least he can feed his BS to N. America.

EU is heading towards a dictatorship. Only government lies and disinformations will be allowed.

And absolutely nothing of value would be lost for Europeans
except perhaps a laissez-faire platform for a lot of annoying racists, conspiracy theorists and the like, but that's not exactly something of value in the first place

NATO will find a reason to attack Twitter/X's offices 😉
In 10 years europe probably won't even matter. It's already overrun by refugees, corruption, extreme inflation, and weakening infrastructure.

Yes please. Get lost Elon with your crappy X rubbish. The world will be a better place without it (at least in Europe then).

I hope Elon actually does this. Complying to governments will only empower governments to do more in the future.
