Yeah for sure, since these trillion dollar companies want to cheap out on components and let tech stagnate because the customer base has become content to fill their stomachs on very expensive crumbs.

By your logic, why even use LCD? Lets just move back to CRT era tech and we can all have our own portable tubes instead of these pesky tablets. Why bother with newer screens that have superior dimming zones, contrast ratios, HDR quality over traditional LCD. Who even needs new tech on devices where we fork over hundreds of dollars right? Just the branding of A17, A18, AGozzilion, M1, M2, blahblah is more than enough...screens, OS, file system, compatibility, UX, upgrades be damned.

I don’t understand the reason for iPad Air...... it’s exactly the same as iPad 10th generation........literally. When it comes to iPad, you get the baseline model for $250 on sale or you go broke and buy a Pro......

Gott... moreHigh quality IPS LCD panel can still be way more reliable than an OLED panel that always has a high tendency for screen burn-in. But I agree about having macOS on M1/M2 iPads, it should already been a thing since day one. iPadOS is still a glorified iOS for large screens, that's all.

Wow what an absolute downgrade with going back to LCD. Gotta hand it to this company, nickle and dime every last bit while demanding top dollar for the most basics.

And no doubt they will still gimp the iPads with preventing it from running anything close to MacOS on it since gotta protect those segregated product likes for overpriced Macs. What is the use of using any M1 or M2 chips on these devices if its only capable of running those crippled iPadOS apps instead of the full suite of programs available for the Apple ecosystem?

                    "LCD instead of mini-LED"

Mini LED is LCD with better backlight. Personally prefer it over oled unknown reliability.

Apple employee: Tim, our iPad sales ar snot doing so hot.
                      Tim Cook: Craig?
Craig: don’t look at me, I’m doing VisionOS.
Tim Cook: well dang it. So Apple employee, what is Samsung doing?
Apple employee: well, they did have 2 sizes for their mid range offering, an FE and FE+
Tim Cook: aha! I have a great idea. Let’s make a larger sized mid range iPad! I’m such a genius!

12.9" better have 120hz or its just gonna create consumer confusion. 2024 iPad Air should at least have something about 75hz. Another thing they should really change is the price.

The base iPad Air should be 539 or so. This model would be 629. Only a 90 dollar difference for (possible) HRR and bigger screen size.
