"..Samsung might be reverse-engineering Huawei's Mate X5 foldable to see how the Chinese company achieved both a thinner profile and a larger internal battery."
So basically admitting that the Mate X5 is the better fold, oh how nice of them.

If only it had pixel-stacking like Sony or OP Open, now there would be room for improvement.
Software can do only as much as hardware allows them to.

Lol, Samsung is way behind the competition of foldables on their cameras.

Iceuniverse has been called out for being wrong many times in the past. Recently he even had a public spat with another Twitter/X user about it.
I remember him clearly sating the latest SMsung foldables won't fold flat, which wasn't true.
Samsung should make improvement to the cameras, both hardware abd software. Either the pixel dual layer sensor or multiple gain sensor, or maybe both, if such a sensor exists.

Raky, 21 Oct 2023Well, no new camera, but at least it will cost more 🤪Higher cost for phones or any other devices is because of high inflation rates in the world. You expect to see phone cost decrease or stay the same when most countries has 5 to 10 percent or more inflation rate? Unfortunately that's not how the world work!

I hate the fact that they will use the same main camera, but it's interesting to see them reverse engineering a competitor's product. Nowadays, in most cases, even consumers who try to reverse engineer might potentially get arrested. If you can't tell, I'm fully in favour of reverse engineering being legal.

Meanwhile, Oppo/OnePlus complitely obliterated the foldable phone camera game with the Find N3/Open. Even the camera from Xiaomi's Mix Fold 3 is far better than what Samsung can put in the Z Fold5.

What’s the problem with the current camera anyway? Using h the same hardware means better optimization as majority of the quality is pretty much software nowadays. Just look at Pixel. Optimization through ISP and software are increasingly more important than the actual sensor. You can only do so much for a tiny camera sensor and lens in hardware.

2 takeaways from this article
1. Samsung will keep using that camera for next several generations as they consider their camera as superior to others
2. Reverse engineering Huawei's mate to shamelessly copy their techniques and label themselves as doing R&D

That would be embarrassing if that ends up being true, but we will have to wait for it to be released to really know that.

Might wait until the 10th gen, to consider foldables, they would probably have found a solution for under display cameras, and a sturdy thiner form factors
