Anonymous, 24 Oct 2023Obviously OEMs are gonna downclock it. Even some phones... moreEither downclocking, undervolting or both can be in play. 4x 3+ GHz Cortex-X4 is just monstrous, so I'd bet a clock of low 2 GHz-ish on most daily tasks with a single core remain at max speed. BUT again, with proper CPU governor, certain tasks can be done without even operating the giant CPU cluster, leaving them with quad-core A720, or using giant CPU cluster for short burst (after all, if a workload is done faster, it might be more power efficient assuming that those cores goes into idle after the burst is complete)

Then again, the CPU config reminds us of the monstrosity that was the Snapdragon 820 family. We'll need to see the D9300 in action within products that will be on-sale.

It has no chance against exynos 2400 and Snapdragon 8 gen3 and intel 14 th generation

The only problem would be power consumption. 4x X4 cores that was intended for high-performance parts such as laptops would gulp power to say the least. Perhaps with a good CPU governor that manages active, idle and disabled cores, the D9300 will actually usable while not consuming significantly more battery juice than the competition. No words for the GPU, though from the scores I assume it's more than 10 clusters.

Its very nice to see Mediatek is trying.we all should welcome such move as it would drive competition.
But I've concerns regarding 4 Cortex X4 in smartphone SoC,but maybe Mediatek has a way to best use of all these performance cores.so let's wait & see the final results first
                                rather than making blind assumptions.

WOW That is serious SoC Chip.Cool.
