      Is a very nice move! D era of BB phone is over...even with BBM, so RIM have no better choice. They wil surely make more money frm this.
      They shouldn't forgot to extend it to Symbian OS!!!

        Nice joke!

        Generally I'm agree with most of comments here.

        Aside from the fact that BBM coming to iOS and Android, which the support will only on software;

        As I believe BB may has hardware support for encryption, will the BBM on different OS leads to battery drainage or over-heat problem... still mistery for me.

          I think it has both Pro & Con.

          Pro: BB will enter a huge market with its secure BBM service on almost every phone irrespective of the brand or OS. I suppose it will make them earn much more than what they earn by selling the handsets. The only thing is that they should not think of people activating special plans for BBM as it is for its older OS. (I mean BB OS older than BB10)

          Con: Obviously it will have to bid goodbye from handset sales as people would opt for cheaper & better phones.

                            It's not a brilliant move for RIM but they have no choice, they owe Google BIG TIME since BB OS10 would not be real today if they had not used Google's source code from Android. They are reluctant to do this but they have to..they owe Google.

                              BBM is the unique feature in Blackberry device.It has got its special value to connect with our loved ones.If it continues with Andriod& ios,People may switch over for price& covenience.

                                The mobile phone market is changing fast and the advantage is shifting towards an open system. This is great move by RIM. They'll surely make lot of money from this. Like it or not most people know the OS they want. And, for me I can never buy a BB phone but I can pay for the BBM app. Thumbs up to RIM.

                                  they shouldn't give BBM to other platforms..if they want they can give it to ios6 + not for android ics+ ..Every shitty phone got ics,even some cheap chinese phones.its better to keep BBM patent with them than releasing it to other platforms to keep blackberry sales alive

                                    i personally think that blackberry have to keep their credentials with bbm only . competition is everywhere most likely with apple. people have blackberries just for bbm, meaning that if bbm runs on ios or android people definitely will switch from bbs to iphones galaxies or htc.

                                      If this will really happen, what's the use of buying a Blackberry phone despite its security features. BBM is their "special" device software feature even most of the multi-platform chat apps can't beat in terms of reliablity (for me though). I think it's not a good move for them.. Dont get me wrong cause I really love how my BB connects me to the world but this move may really end their struggle in my opinion....
