15 May, 2013
Rumor has it that we'll be seeing a stock, Nexus-like, TouchWiz-free version of the S4 flagship.

Either way, people who would really want vanilla Android experience could just Flash custom ROMs.

AnonD-10974, 15 May 2013Remember Galaxy Nexus by Samsung? :) I own one, and that one is actually Google's phone, manufactured by Samsung ... So, we'r either gonna have a new Nexus phone made by samsung, or nothing ... Having spent too much time and money into their own custom version of android, i don't think that Samsung will push out such a phone, because it's easy to root an S4 and get the same thing as this one in the rumor ...

AnonD-77443, 15 May 2013And why wouldn't Samsung run 2 different operating systems?... moreI never said they wouldn't run 2 ... But they have their own version of android, a custom made one - that they've spent a lot of time and money into ... And than there's Tizen ... So, the chances for having a stock, a custom android and tizen are not actually big ...

I ani't saying stock Android is bad especially on the hardware of the Galaxy S4 but Samsung invested a lot of effort, and not to mention money, on their touchwiz interface.

besides, what's the point of doing it?

I believe this is the 6th or 7th Samsung Galaxy S4 variant right?
And then they said: We hold the lion's share.....

Personally touchwizz (skinned with Go launcher) is more user friendly and has a lot more features than the "pure" android... i was a bit disappointing with the Nexus 10.

i prefer the features of touchwiz, and i like to root my phone anyway so its basically gonna be a stock phone after.

But anyway more choices is always good.

Very difficult to match TW Features...bare bone is good for upgrades but useless for enjoying S4 features, though TW is still not mastered many of the gestures but still some of them are functional.

But this is going to be a pain for Samsung customers with TW heavy layer can derail upgrade path and each phone may become obsolete the moment it gets out in the market....unless Google and Samsung works on its way to address this concern.

Few more iterations, people may go back to Apple which has more robust upgrade path for its older products and it is more uniform.
