The firmware will roll out gradually.

Very surprised with the A14 update, this was fast, I already sideloaded the Video Creator app, but good to know that they included it with A14. Just hope the update does NOT bring any bugs since it was really fast, we were spoiled with A13 hope they keep it up. Great Job Sony.

I hope Sony Xperias sales improve so that their price also improves. The fact that only overpriced phones, like the Xperias and the ROG, are actually giving us 100% usable screens without any holes, unimpressive underscreen cameras or over engineered pop-up cameras.

Now depends how you personally see this, if the team is too small for 3 products and they should hire more, or if for 50 people they are doing exceptionally well to develop everything. ( Cup half full or half empty situation)

With my 1 iv I got android 13 in January, good for them if they're committing to quicker updates.

Please link comments where I said that.

Also, for a great camera phone brand like this, money won't be an object for those and spending more for much better update support won't be a problem for them.

the first one, as i have a few headphones and earphones that i still use... then a bookshelf speakers at home...

a usb c to 3.5mm dongle is good (sadly, a must for my personal phone, xz2 compact)... but, as there is still a choice not to use one, why not...
as for sd card slot, it is my way to swap in and out my audio and video collections - so i do not need to copy same music and movies among my devices...

that is why, relating to this article, their software team is back at providing apps that would take advantage of what the phone can do - mostly for content creation (and consumption, as a way to "check" own contents, too)...

So much delusion from people who always think they are "oUtdAteD" or "iRreLevAnt", which has never been the case at all. I even have friends who sold their flagship Samsung phones for Sony phones and never regretted it.

Not sure about the latter, but it's only a matter of time before the Video Creator app is ported to older Xperia 1/5. Also, I think the Mk3 Xperia 1/5 and Pro-I Xperia should also get Android 14.

Good for Sony, it shows that they have had some good sales of their terminals and they want to have them updated to the latest version of Android before Christmas, many phones are sold during the holidays.

Their heavily-priced phones with poor update support is mainly what's holding it down. The fact that it has MicroSD support and headphone jack just doesn't help much at all.

I know this is quite fast for the Sony, but considering they only release 3 phones a year?

That was fast not gonna lie. This is could be the fastest Sony Android update of all time, even if not quite faster than Sony did with its Android 7.0/7.1.1 Nougat update to Xperia XZ/X Perf/Z5/Z3+ or any Sony phone update pre-Android 12 back then after slow rollout on Android 6.0/6.0.1 Marshmallow update on its previous ones.
