Of course, there's some closed sources...on Qualcomm's too...for exemple Hexagon DSP used closed sources.
The only problem with custom Rom is that many developers don't WANT to work on devices with Mediatek.
Xiaomi.eu is one of the best exemple of this.
They refused for exemple to work on Redmi Note 8 Pro...you can find Android 14 Rom for it on XDA (official Rom support stopped on Android 11).

Whereas the PC like intel still stuck at 10nm.
Second,
Even the ultra core like the X-core is still smaller compared to PC big core. But since ARM CPU is a RISC, it's more efficient compared to PC x86 CISC CPU.
Third,
The 3Ghz CPU now is still without big thick heat sink or active heat sink. 4Ghz is certainly doable with small fan like in 1kg notebook category.

It allows 2 homogeneous clusters (a single kind of core per cluster, up to 4 Cores per cluster)
You can do for exemple :
- 4A73+4A53 (Helio P60 for exemple)
- 2A72+4A53 (mt8176)
- 2A72+2A53 (mt8173)
3 clusters solutions like Helio X20 or X30 aren't Big.LITTLE (2+4+4)
Some mid-range Exynos with 2A73+6A53 (Exynos 7904, if I remember) are probably 3 clusters too (2+2+4)
Since cortex A75/A55 it's DynamIQ...
It's a single cluster solution with heterogeneous cores...when you've got 2A75+6A55, all are in the same cluster (up to 8 cores at the beginning).
You will often read that a soc like SD865 is tri-clusters, it's technically false...it's single cluster with different kind of cores and different frequencies.
DynamIQ with latest improvements allows up to 14 heterogeneous cores in the same cluster

That anon said truth, even crazy overclocker would only overvolt if they are in competition or ready to have the chip dead.
That would also need liquid nitrogen or dry ice so I'm doubtful if true though...

Games are at 100fps
