Though I am not sure what you consider "overheating", since that definition is more than loose for non-IT people. Overheating would mean it would have to become basically too hot to hold (since an SoC wouldn't mind going 100 C or so, although the battery isn't gonna like that) or at least thermal throttle enough to be noticeable in use. The latter happens during benchmarks after enough time, but that's about it. Mind I am using GrapheneOS, so I am not relying on any of Google's funky "AI features" to handle process management. Firmware alone is plenty for that, likely just better anyway.
Also mind that I am not recording 4K60 videos under the bright sun in the peak of summer in Spain (or whatever is a generally hot location)...but at that point, any phone with crook.
It'll depend so much on your own usage and situation, it just comes down to how hard the phone will throttle in response.

I know this delusion has deep inside the average Joe's mind these days, but it's a mostly irrelevant metric for actual usage. You'll notice the difference when the low quality software of the Poco fails you, be it in tangible ways or otherwise. There's more to the price than just funny numbers on a chart.

At $800/$550, pixel 8 still only competes against the Poco F5 (SD 7 gen 2), which is $400. And it still has worse battery life. Given that it has better cameras, $600 would be a good price for Black Friday for the Pro, maybe $450 for the non-pro.

How many of you have used a Pixel for a long time?
These phones sometimes get hot for some days after an update. That’s all. My pixel 7 is totally normal right now. There’s very little for me to complain about.
Yes the Pixel 8 Pro is too expensive but it’s still one of the very best phones if you take lots of pictures. I’m definitely gonna grab it if I find one at a good price

For that price they had to offer a better screen with smaller bezels, fold flat, in display fingerprint, properly adapt the UI and notifications to a foldable, better battery life etc

Even for half price of the deal price is still way too expensive for having a phone god for calls, text and brownsing.
Since phone overheats like crazy on every ocasion there is no other use for pixel phones.
Even a 50 eur Redmi A2 can do text, calls and brownsing.
