Samsung Galaxy S24 series dummies show a familiar design

14 November 2023
The 2024 models are supposed to switch to titanium frames and the Ultra will have a flatter display, but from the back all three models appear the same as the old models.

I sure hope the minimal effort for the past two years is to save up for something big.

I'd say the same for iPhones (those are also regularly bashed about that), or Xiaomi, or anything, I don't care. New Steam Deck OLED looks almost absolutely the same as first model - why should anyone care? And so on.

I feel ya, for me LTPO and decent pixel density also was a major point. And yeah, my phone turned out to be pretty good. Was a bit nervous buying it from China through Aliexpress, but no issues.

The Cameras on the Ultra are not enough, I want to see more camera lenses covering the back

I don't worry about design, but I want to see some progress in cameras. Like 1-inch main sensor, 1/2 tele, etc. Maybe 50Mp, maybe better apperture.
But S24U looks boring after S23U. It's not so interesting in photo, like Vivo X100 Pro+, Oppo Find X7 Pro, Xiaomi 14 Ultra, etc.
Despite the fact that I often use x10 camera. Samsung won't make it better 🥲

P.s. only one thing in S23U design, that I don't like - it's too slippery. I want eco-leather or something else.

Same boring design, especially with camera on the back, since S22 Ultra! Why someone should buy the newer phone when the design is basically the same? But good for Samsung to make more profit!Greedy companies!

I get it, Samsung trying to emulate Apple's formula in only giving minor changes between each generation of phones but its clear the strategy is not working as well as Samsung hoped looking at the S series stagnant growth.

I'm due to upgrade my s22 in a few months, but the s24 looks so similar I'm not sure it's worth the jump. Internal features I am sure are better but how much will I notice as the end user.

Maybe I'll wait for the new flip 6 and get that.

I personally have no issues with the external design that much, unless it truly is unsightly to look at. It seems like Samsung has found its own design language and just sticks with it. I don't really care if other people think I'm using a cheap device from an aesthetic standpoint. I don't like it if they go bonkers in design every year just for the sake of it. It usually ended up looking ridiculous and half-baked.

I'm more interested in the hardware and software sides of things. Battery tech in smartphones is kind of stagnant, to be honest; it's just your typical Li-ion polymer. I'm interested to see any new battery technology in the future, if any.

                          But that's just me, though.

Most phone designs from other companies massively change each year, which makes it more unique but each phone looks so different from one another that you don't even know if it's from the same series.
Apple's and Samsung's phone designs are pretty much the same each year which makes it consistent and pleasing, but does get more boring after a while, and with Samsung who uses basically the same design language across almost all of their phones, it can be an issue to differentiate between a S series phone or A series phone at a distance.
