Samsung says it's not working on a $400 foldable for next year

That's a good thing.
Flip phones are gimmicks anyways - there's not really a good advantage compared to normal bar phones. At least there's a purpose for book foldables - a tablet and phone in one pocket.

Firstly they should eliminate the pothole from the center of the screen

Samsung is a premium brand, no need to sell cheap foldable phones.
Want to buy cheaper samsung foldable? Just go buy 1-2 years old Samsung foldable.
Same case with iPhone, want to buy cheap iphone, go buy old iPhone.
Life is simple.

they may be working on one, they just won't release it until expensive foldable sales slow down. For now, foldables are actually getting more popular.

My guess is that we won't see a foldable FE phone until apple release a fding phone. It would give Samsung another way to compete with them

I'd rather wait for S24 series. Foldables aren't for me.

Samsung is surely waiting for other brands to make middle class of foldable ones.

It won’t be $400. The tech is still expensive unless you use 3rd rate components like the Chinese. But I can see the next Flip inching down to $700 or so, or maybe the Flip 5 being reduced in price when the 6 is released.

They knew the sales from foldables line up are far from their expectation. So bringing more foldables will just add the pain. Selling camera-gimmick midranger phone so far works well for them. Why would they take such risks? You guys so mean luring them into their grave with unresponsible romour.

For the best too be honest. Foldables are definitely something that should be a luxury, at least for the time being as their functionality is not essential. Samsung already makes accessible midrange phones. I think the concept of a dual display might make some sense in the upper-midrange tier, but other than that, I see no problem keeping foldables at the high end pricepoint.

Anonymous, 15 Nov 2023They will after they come to their senses, lol.400 dollar foldable? The SoC on that thing will probably be SD750G or SD695 (don't jinx it). The cameras will be butt cheeks bad and the hinge crease will be more visible than the Moon at night. Save up 200 more for at least a Razr 40.
Overall, the idea sounds good but if you think about it, there's a reason the zFlip series is 1000+. FE should be at least 630USD.

I quickly looked through the spec sheet of the Razr 40 and the review pros/cons and I must say, for 499, you can get a bar phone with a way better SoC and cameras or if you NEED a flip phone (for some reason) then this is it.
7 Gen 1 GPU is on the weaker side however, and 144hz pretty much never comes into real play and ingress protection isn't the best and is basic. Or if you can splurge for more, Razr 40 Ultra looks better. Severely better

Why would they? Money is money, people are people and they will buy everything, worth it or not.
