gastritis, 16 Nov 2023LED screens contribute positively to battery life, whereas ... moreIPS and LED are different things, you can't compare them. IPS is type of panel, while LED means that monitors has light-emitting diode. Another types of panel are TN, VA, OLED and brand specific like Samsung's PLS or HP's SVA or WVA - which are renamed TN and IPS panels. LED can be direct or edge lit. This means where does the light comes from. Direct-lit is obviously better.

Anonymous, 16 Nov 2023Dell or HP or Asus. Avoid other brands.i will exactly avoid asus for my laptop
and looks like you know nothing about thinkpads which is far better than hp or dell
i extremely suggest that you avoid those three laptop brands you mentioned before and go to thinkpads instead

Zendroid, 16 Nov 2023What engineer, architect would watch on hd/full HD? Nobody.... moreYou clearly do not know what you are talking about. 4K is irrelevant on a 14-inch laptop, as it draws too much power, defeating the purpose of a long-lasting, outdoor-use device. My brother, who is an engineer working in a quarry, uses a dell 7330 rugged extreme for fieldwork, and it is more than enough. If it were 4K, it wouldn't last the duration of his workday. The focus for rugged devices is often on durability and functionality in tough conditions, rather than high-resolution displays, and as per architects, they may prefer this when going out for fieldwork as the battery would last longer with a lower resolution screen.

Your comment reflects shallowness and poor values. I've been in gsmarena for a long time and have seen your comments frequently. It seems like you have a lot of free time to interfere and remark on articles and comments that don't align with your ideal world. Perhaps you forgot that there are various types of jobs and people with different needs.

And the burn-in never happened on any of my Samsung phones, led TV or monitors.

Zendroid, 16 Nov 2023Then why are oled better in bright sunlight and have pure b... moreI never said IPS is better than OLED in producing pure blacks. I said compared it to, read, LED, first. Wide angles are good when working using this laptop showing graphs, projects details, among other things, in construction sites, under the sun, to other people. This specific laptop is designed for the outdoors, as it was mentioned in this article, it can have up to 1000 nits, which is more than enough. Who would have the time to watch movies if you are a busy engineer or architect, etc. I guess you didn't pay attention in your reading class.

Zendroid, 16 Nov 2023Then the idea dies. And you can't use alt gr+numpad. Well for many it does not matter.
Also over internet there are mouses which comes with numpad as well.
This is good example but there are lot of smaller things.

What family would watch movies on a 14" laptop? Buy a TV if you want wide view angle.!

i thought they stopped making rugged laptops.

Cpt.Power, 16 Nov 2023Well you can add numpad via extensions. Then the idea dies. And you can't use alt gr+numpad.

Zendroid, 16 Nov 2023Sadly no numpad. And no led screen. Not worth it.! LED screens contribute positively to battery life, whereas IPS displays provide superior brightness, wider viewing angles, and color accuracy. These attributes are deemed acceptable considering the typical use cases for these laptops. Opting for OLED might entail a risk of burn-ins, making the longevity of the IPS technology used in this laptop more favorable. Regarding flexibility and resistance to cracking, both OLED and IPS may play a role, but the decisive factor lies in the quality and characteristics of the top glass layer. As for numpads, it is a nice-to-have, but extensions or an external one can do the job, I guess.

If you put max specs into conguguration on the source side this thing gets far more expensive than max configured Apple with M3 pro chips which was 8600 euros.
