The thing is tho..Samsung sales are declining and the S23 series are only performing better because of Snapdragon not being region exclusive anymore, which Samsung will change again with making Exynos return 🫢
Have the same opinion tho when Samsung's mobile division will have a new CEO who takes on things differently ;)

rosesarerosie, 21 Nov 2023No one expects Samsung or anyone to bring 200W or whatever ... moreI believe the reason of the Samsung in doing (some small) features and cost cutting has more rationale than some would say... If you want to stay profitable yet competitive you probably have to focus and listens to the customers needs cause you have limited money to spend. Maybe my biased bubble I am living here in EU is completly different from one in Asia, but I can hear the voices around me speaking more about:
1. longer support of recent Android releases and especially security bugfixes
2. the possibility of desktop like experience (Samsung Dex support)
3. the s-pen
4. (even)fast(er then actual) charging is a nice to have, but not deciding factor comparing to points 1,2,3
5. the foto capabilities are already more then enough for 98% users..
I believe the management(and sale numbers) see different requirement from actual customers than you... ;-)
PS: And for the fun factor you have foldables and other expensive niche market, but that is hardly makeing the volume profit... ;-)

A lot of talk, but Harmony OS has yet to hit the market outside of China. Can't wait for Huawei to harmonize the phone & PC integration with Harmony OS...a thing that MS failed to do. The android compatibility is good to allow time for non-China developers to learn up Harmony OS app development & deployment. This will also shut Huawei haters that claimed Harmony OS is a android fork because Huawei can remove the compatibility if it chooses.

Ah, you mentioned Gbox, that confirmed my guess. Aurora store is a much better solution for most applications, especially when you need only the essentials.

rosesarerosie, 21 Nov 2023No one expects Samsung or anyone to bring 200W or whatever ... moreThat's a good point, the fun factor of smartphones being truly unique is sadly missing from the world. Trends have left us all with flat slabs with multiple cameras jutting out that all do the same thing.
I wouldn't buy a Nothing phone, but hey, at least it has flashy lights that make it unique :D

Anonymous, 21 Nov 2023It is indeed possible and already in the works. Fortunately... moreThere is no country on the planet that can match China in just about every step of the manufacturing process at huge scale, support it with the human resources, ICT and logistics infrastructure, supply and refinement/transformation of raw materials at scale.
There is possibly one area where European countries have a slight advantage. Advanced manufacturing tools for very specific areas but China is actively working on that.
Nothing is underway in terms of decoupling. Decoupling isn't an option and never has been (unless you happen to be a US China-hawk).
