[deleted post]No one expects Samsung or anyone to bring 200W or whatever fast charging, but charging speeds and technologies did evolve, and at least a 67W charging speed is a reasonable minimum for every higher end phone out there. There are articles and tests that show the effects of fast charging over time and you can see that the degradation that they contribute over slower charging are miniscule, or you can ask people here and they will tell you the same from their experience.
And lets not pretend that charging is the only aspect where Samsung lags behind. Cameras for example: the S23 Ultra has great cameras, until you put it next to a 13 Ultra or Find X6 Pro where it pales in comparison, and thats only because Samsung refuses to use up to date sensors for the sake of cost-cutting.
I understand that not everyone needs the latest and greatest, but that doesn't mean that we should excuse any company's lack of effort when they ask a $1000+ for their phones.
Samsung used to be one of the front-runners of smartphone innovation, everyone knows that, yet today they became one of the least exciting and just straight up bland.
I don't know you, but for me that kills the entire point of being a tech enthusiast: the fun 😄

Fortunately, companies will have little to no say on the matter (boo-hoo to their precious little profits) and will be fully enforced after Trump is re-elected next year, lol.

Anonymous, 21 Nov 2023The West is decoupling from china and there's nothing ... moreJanet Yellen has already confirmed in her recent trip to China that the US is not decoupling from China. And judging by the fawning over Xi during the APEC meeting by American business leaders, American businesses cannot get enough of the China market despite Biden pretending otherwise.

Anonymous, 21 Nov 2023The West is decoupling from china and there's nothing ... moreDe-coupling is quite literally impossible. In US/China trade terms alone, the deficit remains. Trump's trade war increased prices for locals. The sanctions have simply cut US companies off from their top customers (lost revenue needed for future R&D) and made Chinese companies accelerate de-Americanisation efforts.
In terms of technology you may well see more (but still a tiny fraction of overall business) non-China manufacturing but even in those countries, Chinese companies will be present.

Chinese markets are cutting off their noses to spite their faces in the short term. Long term, it will benefit their own country as their own software will be encouraged to develop faster, but the differences in culture will cause problems when trying to export.
At the end of the day, the average Android user will lose out.
