    Face ID is brilliant

Anonymous, 22 Nov 2023So why did we remove the fingerprint scanner from the back?... morei absolutely miss that, when i bought my realme 5pro it worked most of the time, unless my hands were greasy and dirty or way too wet then it won't work (basically the same problem with ultrasonic one). same way i miss the pop up cameras that made the phones look very clean and beautiful, especially if it's an oled one, damn companies removing stuff people actually want -_-

So why did we remove the fingerprint scanner from the back? To brag that you have that seamless OLED ultrasonic fp scanner?
Seriously, a finger print sensor on the upper back of the phone was the best design choice ever ergonomy wise. You just add two fingers to the unlock system and it always works, no uncomfortable holding, just natural, intuitive.
If all phones start shipping with bad design choices every phone OEM will go bankrupt over the course of a week.

Pretty weird since the macbooks just gained Touch ID, and same goes for the Magic keyboards.

Unless they plan on adding a notch to everything...

Mills, 22 Nov 2023I prefer Face ID though, in my opinion. It's much more... moreThat's just a lie. I have an LG V50 and it does not care about the angle. Before that I had an iPhone 7 plus. It too did not care. You either never had a phone with touch ID or you had a really really crappy one. Or worse you did, and now you are just spreading misinformation.

"According to a Chinese report, Apple has reportedly shut down the tools it used to produce and enable Touch ID in the past."
So does this also apply to the iPads without FaceID or are we in for a surprise upgrade?

Apple's loss, I will never buy a phone without FP scanner

                      Cheaper hardware

In some ways i prefer the fingerprint scanner on the Pixel and other Androids, I can browse on my phone without having to pick it up. I'm not even sure Face unlock is that secure.

Under screen fingerprint scanners always have been a gimmick anyway. Thanks that apple is sticking to guns.

                                Understandable, they don't have to.

I prefer Face ID though, in my opinion. It's much more seamless as you just have to raise your phone to your face and it unlocks. With Touch ID, you need to have your thumb/finger angled the way you registered it.
